Constrained to a hospital bed after taking a bullet to the shoulder, Leon is mind-numbingly bored. With nothing to occupy himself and no chance of Chris letting him DAMA, it's no wonder he answers the (probably spam) call he gets. Well, long story short, it's not spam. And he has no idea who Anabel is.
One month away from his release date from Raccoon City Penitentiary, Luis misdials. He thought he knew Anabel's number by heart after using it so much, but apparently not. Things turn out for the best, though, when he gets to chat with an interesting police officer who just so happens to have a thing for bad boys.

“Surgery?” A keen interest lit up his voice, the shift immediate and palpable. “Opioids or NSAIDs?”
“Both. Doctor said I was lucky to keep the arm.”
“Sledding accident?”
“I—what? No, of course not.”
Leon could practically hear him shrug. “You never know. What was it, then, cowboy? Did you fall off your horse?”
Leon tried to suppress an involuntary smile at remembering how Ashley had phrased it, repeating into the phone with mirth, “I tripped and fell on a bullet.”
“Impressive.”
“I try.”

However, the universe is known for not being kind to him. As he bumped into a handsome Spaniard while looking for Ashley. Leon found out that the same man used to work for Umbrella. Yet, even despite that and despite Leon’s better judgment, Leon finds himself growing attached to that charming smile and the affectionate Spanish pet names.

Luis is…different. Leon can’t prove it, and maybe he’ll never understand what he sees in Luis that feels so real, but he knows it’s there. And, more than that, he knows that Luis is worth the effort, regardless of what others say.
