Christine escaped, and that was supposed to be the end of it.
Except the Circus doesn’t let go that easily. They had even said it when she'd first arrived, no one ever truly leaves.
Months later she’s still piecing herself back together, waiting for her mind and body to realign with a world that she no longer feels like she belongs in. Her brain still hallucinates glitches in random patches on her neighborhood sidewalk, her nightmares still get so lucid that she sometimes isn't sure she'd even gotten out in the first place.
She knew the world expected her to move forward, to heal, to forget. And she's trying to. The others who escaped with her are trying to as well.
But again, all that is a lot easier said then done.
