And so Captain America may be the one who leads the raid on the compound and bravely battles the Red Skull to a desperate end, but Bucky Barnes is the one who flies the plane into the Arctic ocean, finally longing for the cold.

“Might as well go in together, watch each other’s backs,” he said unflappably. Cause Barnes might have just single-handedly destroyed seven heavily harmed Hydra soldiers, thus saving Sam’s hide, but he still looked a very far cry from the unstoppable force he’d been on that bridge in DC: in the fluorescent light that filtered from the entrance through the vines, his paleness had taken a sickly yellow shade and his eyes were fever-bright and a thousand miles away; no way in hell he was in any condition to siege a Hydra base on his own, super-soldier or not. Probably not even with Sam’s help, but since he doubted he could make the former assassin change his mind, going in together was their best option.
