“The universe, no,” Skye acquiesced, “so these are your terms? I push the button I need to push to give you your gift, and you shoot me?”
“I won’t hesitate,” Caitlyn Kiramman promised.
Skye considered. She wanted to be around to see the gift be received - there was so much science in that to observe - but that wouldn’t be possible if she was shot.
“I accept your terms,” Skye replied, and raced to push the button as Caitlyn Kiramman pulled the trigger.

Summary
Vikras had acquitted himself well. He’d tell anyone who’d listen that he should’ve won - had the correct defense against a two handed weapon, had the years of experience, done everything right.
The Blue Knight wielded his rectangle with speed, power, and precision - a surgeon with a scalpel - and had him disarmed, de-shielded, and falling backwards in the air in three devastating moves.
The crash of armour hitting dust had rung out amongst the crowd, a stunned silence that Vikras would hear for the rest of his knightly days.
What he’d remember far past that, however, was the Blue Knight accepting his victory, then forfeiting the rest of the tournament.

Summary
Vi nodded absently, her gaze floating from Caitlyn’s eyes to the couch, where she and Vi had first - helped. Caitlyn followed her gaze, checking to see if anything was there, seeing nothing.
Caitlyn met Vi’s eyes, and Vi had a half smile, a little you-caught-me shrug, something satisfied and wistful on her expression. It tugged at Caitlyn’s gut, that clear sign of remembrance.
“You should come,” Caitlyn blurted.
Vi’s eyebrows lifted. “To your game?”
Caitlyn nodded. “If you want to, I mean. It’d be cool if you came - it’d be fun. For you. Should be a pretty good game - or so I’m told. If you’re free - no real pressure.”
She was spared more blabbering by Vi shrugging and saying, “sure.”
“Really?” Caitlyn asked, eyes wide.
“I mean - yeah. Sounds fun. I never really got into the college rivalry stuff, but I’m always available to watch athletic women.”

“I’ve had an awful day,” Caitlyn bit out, “so if you don’t mind making this easy for me, I’d appreciate it.”
“You’ve had an awful day?” the creature asked, “Cupcake, you’re not the one who was shot.”
Caitlyn froze, both pistols wavering in midair, then lowered with a stunned expression. She took in the yellow eyes, the hulking red fur, the sarcastic tone, and all at once she was assailed by memories - of running in the fields outside of Piltover, lying on her back in the green rolling hills, cheek to cheek with a stout, fit teenager with eyes like ice and a mouth that spelled out trouble.
“Vi?” Caitlyn asked.

“You’re,” Caitlyn swallowed, wondering if this was some sort of trick, an illusion cast by the Voidborn and their followers that had dragged her to this place.
But this was not the cold, boreal sleep that afflicted her before her imprisonment. There was a warmth to this moment, signifying reality in spades, and without any further doubt, the truth of it had completely solidified before her.
