Heavy, labored breathing fills the tiny space of the bathroom, red paints the floor in a sickening display, resembling a vast field of zinnias. A young man, hardly 20, lays with a threaded needle held in shaky hands. The red was his own, blood seeping from a near-fatal wound. His vision is spotting, black dots slinking out of the corner of his eyes as he stabs the needle through red-stained flesh again, pulling and tightening, the pain excruciating enough to keep him awake.
