Summary
It's been over 20 years since Steve Rogers (a.k.a. Captain America) disappeared. That's the subject of Mystery Vlogger Bucky's next video. In the course of his research, Bucky combs through witness sightings, pop-up appearances, and cryptid-like photos. He expects to make a cool video full of drama and intrigue. What he doesn't expect is to figure out exactly where Steve is and how he moves around.
Should he tell him? If so, how?
When Steve shows up at Bucky's local coffee shop to warn him off his trail, the question is answered for him. He tells Steve what he knows, why he knows, and how to keep hiding. An unlikely friendship forms, one full of cryptic notes and throwaway social media accounts. One that leads to late night confessions and Steve finding out exactly what's under Bucky's sloth pajamas.

Some days Bucky wakes up and remembers nothing, not even the name of the naked, suspiciously well-muscled guy in his bed. Steve calls them zero days. So when Bucky just happens to hint that he’s into lap dances, Steve goes full-on superhero-strategist to win Bucky’s heart on a zero day and give him the lap dance he deserves. (This is not an AU! In the wake of the Battle of New York, Bucky Barnes bade his old life, or what was left of it, farewell. He bought a deserted cabin in the Catskills, exchanged orthopedic surgery for woodworking, and built a new life for himself as a carpenter. Six years on, Bucky still leads a peaceful, if solitary, existence. Maybe it gets a little lonely sometimes, but that’s why he got himself a dog. And a cat. And a goat.
In 2018, Steve Rogers finally hangs up his shield. He trades Avenging and New York City for the peace and quiet of the Catskills, grows a beard, and isolates himself in an attempt to salvage what’s left of his sanity and identity. After living his life in the public eye for so long, Steve believes that calm and solitude are exactly what he needs. Of course, he didn’t count on meeting Bucky Barnes.
