Summary
The universe is reined by the Sith Empire. A handful Sith are allied and have divided the known universe in between them. Jedi are gathered in their temple on Coruscant and forbidden from leaving unless they are chosen by a Sith as a Courtesan – a companion both in political court, on the battle field, as well as in bed. It is seen as a great honor to be chosen and many parents send their force-sensitive children to the temple in hope that they’ll be one of the lucky few.
Obi-Wan Kenobi didn’t have any illusions that he’d ever be one of the few. He wasn’t especially attractive, rather weak in the force and the fact that he was mostly repulsed by the thought of sex rarely came up but he doubted it would help.
He just hoped Lord Vader’s visit to the temple would be over soon so he could get back to his studies. Luckily for him he got to hang out with one of Empress’ Amidala’s –Lord Vader’s wife – handmaidens during the preparations of the visit.
Padme is just trying to discern who might make a good companion for her and Anakin without disclosing who she really is and she keeps running into Obi-Wan. Maybe there is something to the Jedi that even he himself can’t see.
