Shoes was helping herself to the parts of a motorcycle that was way too nice to be left unattended at night in this part of town. It was sure to be a decent pay out, until she heard the stupid robot voice call out from behind her, “You know, this is like some fucked-up, backwards deja vu for me.”
She tensed for a moment but didn’t bother turning to see the Red Hood there. At some point after the big bad crime boss started giving her tips on how to get away with stealing or offering her his fucking jacket in the cold, he started to lose his edge of intimidation. Instead she focused on removing the back tire of the bike and saying, “This is just some routine maintenance.”

Jason was never supposed to die but he has always defied the laws of the universe. Coming back split part of his soul. But dying again. That seemed to be the final straw.
After his death that night in that apartment at the hands of Bruce. Jason gets sporadically sent back in time to take care of his younger self.
Only his younger self doesn’t know it’s him that has been the person protecting him his whole life.

Summary
The Robin song began with Dick Grayson. A way to communicate without comms. A entire language made from small chirpy whistles that nearly mimic the calls of a robin. The idea was brilliant and Dick used it frequently with Bruce, even outside of missions.
The Robin song died with Jason Todd. Dick didn’t whistle anymore. Neither did Bruce. Even when Jason comes back from the dead as Red Hood, the robins never sang again.
However, during a mission gone terribly wrong and Jason had disappeared under the debris of a fallen building, Dick began to whistle the robin call for the first time in years.
