Summary
Jayce Talis has a problem. Two of them, in fact.
Problem #1: Jayce is paired with Ekko for Heimerdinger’s capstone engineering course. But Ekko isn’t the problem here: It’s Heimerdinger’s response to their new project, which results in him confiscating Jayce’s life’s work on Hextech and taking it who knows where.
Enter Viktor: Ekko’s reclusive roommate at Zeta Omega Nu who just so happened to be Heimerdinger’s assistant until a recent falling out left them at odds. With Viktor’s help, Jayce is sure he can get back his research and achieve his Hextech dream.
Problem #2: Jayce needs to get fucked. Badly.
Enter Viktor: Ekko’s best friend who happens to be Jayce’s every fantasy brought to life. But what business does a good boy like Jayce Talis have chasing after punk boys with tattoos and bad attitudes on the verge of expulsion?
If Jayce could just find a way to talk to him, Viktor could be the solution to all of Jayce’s problems. Except…Jayce has already been texting Viktor, pretending to be someone else. Because as far as he knows, Viktor's only interested in girls.
So, make that three problems. Maybe even four.

Through Viktor, Jayce’s ideas are refracted, splintering into a vivid rainbow of possibilities or distilling down to a beam of pure brilliance. Together, they’ve gone from stabilizing one Hexgem to crafting entire arrays of them, wowing Council members who’d previously ignored Viktor and come within a hair’s breadth of banishing Jayce.
So why does Jayce feel so goddamn insane whenever they're alone together?

Viktor moves to towel his hair, still wet from the emergency chemical shower, as he evaluates Jayce’s tone for any hint of mockery or irony. He doesn’t find one, which he could likely have predicted.
Jayce Talis is aggressively and disconcertingly earnest.
He’s also Viktor’s partner, so Viktor has been trying to be earnest sometimes as well.

He says it lightly, a snort or a roll of Viktor’s eyes expected.

Summary

All pushing him toward Jayce and toward a future that metamorphosizes with every step he takes. Viktor can feel the winds shift and part of his story is wiped clean, unwritten by his own actions that night.
Viktor doesn’t look back. He allows Jayce to open the door for him, and steps out into the evening. The sunset is vibrant, gold and pink and explosive.
Feeling unaccepted by Piltover in the wake of his 28th birthday, Viktor returns to the Undercity for an annual festival to reconcile who he is with where he came from.
Things go south.

Summary
After two spur-of-the-moment hook ups, Viktor and Jayce agree to regularly sleep together. It would be a shame to waste their sexual compatibility, after all, especially as friends. So long as they follow the rules they made for their arrangement, Viktor can pretend that this is all he wants. Jayce can swallow down any other feelings that bubble up.

Jayce laughs. "Yeah, kinda. Not that it needs to be, like, wedding night sex, I just want—"
"—Somebody who elected to be there without financial incentive."
"Exactly."
"Let me do it," Viktor says, right as Jayce is mid-gulp of his moscow mule. Perfect timing. He half chokes and half laughs, but Viktor is committing to the bit, his eyebrows raised expectantly.
"Oh shit. Like actually, V?"
Jayce has a kink he’s itching to satisfy. His lab partner finally puts him out of his misery.

Jayce didn’t even want to go to the stupid party, but they needed funding. The Hexgates were complete and the Hexgems were iin the testing phase, but far too volatile for everyday use and functionally just theory. The Council and their investors were getting antsy. He had to put on a good face, make an appearance. As he watched Viktor’s retreating form, he wondered why he didn’t understand that. He almost called out Viktor to explain, but he didn’t. Instead, he left.
Viktor and Jayce get into a big fight before a party. They work it out when Jayce gets home.
