Summary
Cruising up closer to the park in the quiet morning under the streetlamp light, she scrunches her eyebrows slightly at a faint voice in the distance, seemingly irritated if the curses are any indication. She slows her approach and is surprised to see a girl dusting herself up off the ground on the level part of the park pavement. Vi isn't one to spy, but she didn't want to spook the girl suddenly, and a part of her was intrigued to look from a distance too, for some reason. She didn't seem to have noticed Vi yet, who had come to a halt leaning overtop a bench some short distance away. The girl seemed absolutely absorbed in the task at hand, which was, it would seem, learning how to skateboard. She was obviously new, hesitant and cautious when stepping on the board, and despite this being a frequent haunt of Vi's, she'd never seen her before.
Or: Vi can't sleep so she heads off to the skatepark, only to find a super pretty girl she's never seen before.

Summary
Late one night, Caitlyn and Vi both end up in the library cramming for exams. When Caitlyn's best friend, Jayce, doesn't answer his phone to be Caitlyn's escort across campus in the dark, Vi offers to walk Caitlyn to her car.
An insane idea to destress together during a spontaneous and very practical one-night-stand turns into many more nights, studying and de-stressing as tutors-with-benefits.
Between Caitlyn's insane Pre-Law class schedule and Vi's commitments to her Engineering degree and her captaincy of the rugby team - and their historic Runeterra University Rugby Championship (RURC) run - Caitlyn and Vi discover that they have a lot more in common than being stressed out of their minds and insanely attracted to each other.
Over the course of the school year, they fall in deeper and deeper, finding out in real time that, sometimes, true love can come from anywhere - even as unlikely a place as the Pilt U library at one o'clock in the morning.

“It still doesn’t feel real,” Caitlyn said as they walked. “That the worst is over, that we’re standing on the other side.”
A flock of starlings swept free of the cliffs, and they paused to watch them go. Caitlyn adjusted the shawl again, the same wind that kicked the surface of the water into peaks blowing the hair back from her face. Vi’s breath lodged against her ribs, like a hand over her heart.
“Maybe there is no other side,” Vi said. “Maybe it’s all one thing.”

“Don't laugh,” Caitlyn says with a scoff, though Vi notices the corner of her mouth tilt up. “It’s the only real explanation. How else did I end up in the Hermes cabin for four years?”
“Well, yeah, but Cait—you’re like, easily the prettiest person at camp.”
Vi doesn’t even realize she’s said it until the words have slipped from her mouth, entirely truthful. She tries to keep herself from turning red, but thankfully Caitlyn isn’t looking at her anyway, instead staring down at her hands.
“You’re just saying that.”

Summary
But it’s in those afternoons when Vi breathlessly helps haul Caitlyn up onto a rooftop, their sweaty palms against each other’s as Caitlyn grips her friend’s hand, does Caitlyn really feel like she gets to see the world for what it is. She stands on the rooftop next to Vi, panting, looking out into the numerous little squat buildings peppering this tiny coastal town, the great behemoth of the ocean waving just beyond all the way into the horizon, and she realizes that Piltover’s stuffy boardrooms and polished corners aren’t all that the world should be, as her peers believe.
The world is so much more. It can be so much more.

Caitlyn waits, watches the light furrow of Vi’s brow, takes in the way Vi’s fingers squeeze the plush gently at first, tentatively, then with a tad more force, takes in the way Vi’s eyes widen in surprise at the give and the texture.
She’ll keep this one. But maybe…
“You can have him,” she says.
Vi almost drops Theodore the Turtle.
“Nah,” Vi’s voice drags out, a little wobbly, a little faux light, the kind of tone she does before she’s about to make a joke to obfuscate some actual feelings. “These are for kids, yeah?”
