It was what they did. Back then it was always the simple things; the dancing, everything that occurred beyond the realm of just kissing, the dating, jealousies and insecurities and all the emotional baggage. A lot of firsts had been shared between them, and it didn't matter if they were easy, or awkward, or hard. They always figured it out. Together.

But his heart pounds, insistent, as he stumbles around the town, like it knows something.
Four years ago, El vanished with the Upside Down. Now, Mike's heart pulls him to Iceland, desperate to find her.

El’s expression softens, a look crossing over her eyes that tightens his throat. He’s relieved that she’s not put off by his selfish, possibly possessive, attitude. “I know,” she says with a light nod. “But I don’t think they look at me the way you look at me.”
