“So are we doing this then?”
Eddie narrows his eyes.
Okay. Fine. Skipping foreplay, sure.
“Doing what, Harrington?”
Irritation flickers across Steve’s features as he steps forward again, still breathing hard and unevenly. Still red in the face.
“You’re really going to make me say it?” he whispers. “You want me to ask?”
“No,” Eddie grins, reaching up to tug at the red ascot tied around his stupid little sailor shirt. He leans in closer, hooking a finger into the waistband of his stupid little sailor shorts. His lips brush the shell of Steve’s ear as he speaks, voice pitched soft and low.
“You’re not going to ask. You’re going to beg.”—
Eddie spends his summer learning things about himself – such as the fact that the only thing he enjoys about his dreary summer job at the mall comes in the form of one Steve Harrington: fallen from grace, suited up in a borderline indecent uniform, easy to torment, and wound tighter than a drum.

The entire theater was completely deserted and this guy could’ve chosen any place to sit down but he chose to sit right next to Steve, instantly hogging the armrest.
“Dude, what the hell?” Steve whispered, “Go sit somewhere else.”
“I wanna sit next to you,” Eddie shrugged and Steve glared at him, “What? Are you planning to jerk off or something?”

Summary
“There was a fire. At the mall. I worked there? At Scoops Ahoy.”
The way he says the last part sounds strange, like it’s really important somehow that Eddie believes him.
“Okay,” he says, then adds, “Is that why you look like that?”
Eddie’s never met a fire with fists, but he wants Steve to tell him what happened—not just assume.
There’s a beat of silence, like Steve’s weighing his options, and Eddie knows a lie’s coming before Steve even opens his mouth.
“Yeah. Building caved in. We made it out—Robin and I. Paramedics checked me over and said I couldn’t drive, so I decided to walk.”
Almost ten miles, Eddie estimates. Sure. Totally normal thing to do in the middle of the night, battered and bruised, after escaping a fire.
But he’s pretty sure that’s all he’s going to get, so he settles on, “Good thing I came along, then.”
“Yeah.”

Summary
Steve Harrington has a secret.
That fact in and of itself is hardly a surprise; everyone has secrets. Eddie has a few of his own, of varying degrees. Some that he only shares with Gareth and Jeff and Freak. Others that only Wayne could ever be trusted with. And more still that he keeps to himself, keeps close to the chest lest anyone use them to hurt him. There's also things like the secret of the Upside Down. The carefully constructed cover story, protected by NDA upon NDA. The secret that he shares with Dustin and his friends. With Nancy and Robin and Steve fucking Harrington.
So yeah. Steve is allowed to have secrets too.
Eddie doesn't think anyone was meant to find out this one.
