The wider iterator populace is still reeling from the death of Sliver of Straw and her unexpected broadcast. Investigations of her structure prove to be, if not fruitful, confusing. Essential data has been gouged out; personality matrices, precious memories, all gone. What remains of her runs simulations in endless circles until it collapses to the ground in an inglorious heap.
Evading prying eyes, a strange creature makes its escape unnoticed. In its desperate flight, it meets with two like it. But this world is not forgiving, and they will need to use every resource at their disposal to survive.
