    He wishes, wishes, Wei Ying hadn’t heard about Du Mu Qiao. Because Wei Ying – with almost no attention span, who stops watching TV shows on episode 3 at the latest, who falls asleep in the theatre and misses half the movie – has for some reason become obsessed with it. With, in fact, Wu Xian.

    Wu Xian who is funny, chaotic, and has a heart of gold. Wu Xian who has survived tragedy and continues to live in its shadow, but gets up every day to do good where he can. Wu Xian, who is first scorned by, then cautiously watched by, and then adored by, Wang Ji.

    Wu Xian, who is very obviously based off Wei Ying.

    Or: Secret web novelist Lan Zhan receives disturbing fan mail while hiding his identify from the man he based his entire inner world on. Something has to give.

    When was the last time he had felt so frightened? Was it not pitiful that one of GusuLan’s Twin Jades, who had fought dozens of monsters and suppressed countless spirits, was brought nearly to tears by the merry clamor of a dining hall and the mindless teasing of a half grown boy?.

    Worried about his little brother's solitary nature and lack of friends, Lan Xichen convinces his uncle to send fifteen year old Lan Wangji and a group of GusuLan disciples to study at Lotus Pier under the pretense of improving intersect relations.

    "I love you," Lan Wangji felt compelled to add "Wei Ying. I love you"

    Wei Ying's emotions turned sticky with warmth and care.

    "I love you too, Lan Zhan. More than I've ever loved anything. I adore you"

    "With or without soulbond," Lan Wangji promised, caressing his husband's cheeks with both hands and projecting love, love, love, so much love it felt as if they'd both drown in it "I would still love you. I'll love you always. You'll never be alone"

    He felt Wei Ying's emotions crumbling, collapsing on themselves and then rebuilding in a shaky tower of tenderness and weakness and intimacy and warmth.

    "Kiss me then," Wei Ying whispered, touching his fingers to Lan Wangji's lips "Kiss me, Lan Zhan. And hold me. And never let go"

    "Never" Lan Zhan agreed.

    After the whole Jin Guangyao fiasco, after Lan Wangji finally married his soulmate, after the loss and the grief receded, after everything seemed alright. After a new enemy surfaced, someone powerful and bold enough to mess with the most sacred thing humanity had: soulbonds.
