Summary
“Orange!” Something muffled cries for him. He opens his eyes and sees Red’s tearful face peering into his shell. “You okay?! You hurt?!”
His shell may be safe but big brother is crying for him. Slowly, he pulls out of his shell and hooks his arms back around Red’s neck. Red nuzzles his cheek and Mikey hums with happiness.
It’s a story that has been told many times, far into the future. Raph had slipped, and Mikey, sensing he was falling, had retracted into his shell for the first time. Mikey doesn’t remember much, only being happy when he sees Purple and Blue again, and Red’s big smile.~
Mikey, being a box turtle, instinctively hides in his shell at any signs of danger or distress. Every time, his brothers are always there to coax him out, to remind him that everything is safe again eventually.
TLDR: each time Mikey has retracted into his shell out of instinct, and how that develops over the years.

Summary
Casey Jones has seen a lot of things. He’s done a lot of things, things that shouldn’t have been possible by the world’s standards. However… as he’s staring at a place way too bright to be his own, even he can agree that this probably shouldn’t have happened.
He really should learn to stop touching things that shouldn’t be touched.

"...Alright." Mikey blinked and sat straighter, and Leo could see him slip into his Doctor Feelings persona. So, like any good brother, he immediately stopped him by putting a hand on his shoulder.
"No, Miguel."
"Just need some advice." Mikey brushed him off, and blinked, thinking. Donnie, however, was one step ahead, like always.
"How about... we just all share it, one by one? No holding back."

"Frankly, Leo had never felt more like a child, not even when he actually had been one. But he was already there, and the thought of leaving Raph’s room—with the soft lamp-light driving away the shadows, an easy sunset yellow-orange that was most decidedly not red—and returning to the endless, spilling darkness that was the rest of the lair made something inside him writhe in a blind panic, vehemently protesting against the idea and making his next breath sharp and wheezy as it stuttered through his throat. Raph was safe.
And so Leo, blanket still wrapped around his trembling form, hands white knuckled around the hems, carefully tiptoed over and climbed into Raph’s bed, just like he had used to when he was young, crawling under the massive blankets haphazardly strewn across his form and into the expanse of sturdy sheets."
