They existed when they were not with each other, and they were whole then, but they lived in each other's soul. It was always Lan Wangji holding two coffees in the morning instead of one and Wei Wuxian texting him saying 'I was thinking of you'. Their existence felt meaningful exactly because of the rarity within the fact that they existed at the same time. The two of them weren’t always aware of the other light, they hadn’t known each other their whole lives. But ever since they met, they could barely remember anything else.

When Buck got in front of him in his way out, he still felt like he should say something. “I thought this was a phase.”
Buck raised an eyebrow.
“I meant the hooking up at work thing, you’re lucky it wasn’t Bobby who found you.” He didn’t sound mad, he didn’t think. He wasn’t mad. Just surprised. He had no business in lecturing him about stuff like that.
“It just sort of happened, I’d say it won’t happen again but…” Buck didn’t look all that embarrassed, because of course he didn’t. Ravi was still on their line of sight, walking away, and Eddie knew where Buck was looking. God, Jesus. For a moment he kind of didn’t want to work with them ever again. “He’s cute.”

Summary
The first couple of dollars that the machine ate up without remorse were an annoyance, something that made Dennis sigh and unzip his wallet without thinking about it to try again. By the time that the vending machine had eaten seven whole dollars, in coins, and Dennis didn’t have anything to show for it, he was close to thumping his forehead against the cool glass and hoping he could derive some sort of enjoyment or nourishment from simply just looking at the colourful packages as they remained firmly in their coils.
He didn’t often carry coins. Those were his last few dollars and he was woefully aware that somebody had offhandedly mentioned that the staffroom vending machine destroyed notes, so he wasn’t going to be getting a soda, a bag of chips or anything else that might settle his belly from the incessant grumbling it was doing.

5 times + 1 that Robby buys something for Dennis and makes him feel like he's about to keel over, right there and then.
