Summary
A person who listens to whatever inane, mundane shit Buck is incapable of not spouting? Actually listens, with interjected questions and regular mmhms of acknowledgement? Indulgent of every tangent, every spiel, unless Buck is actively sowing terror in the hearts of victims on calls with his worst-case scenario stories.
He has that person. Eddie. According to May, that makes Eddie his person, a thought that has a bloom of warmth unfurling in his chest.
It might not be romantic, but it’s—it’s something.
And it’s worth Buck trying to get back to who they were. When their shift is over, he follows Eddie home like he might’ve done a year ago.
or, buck learns about bird theory. eddie, unsurprisingly, is the only one who passes with flying colours

Summary
Buck and Eddie are physically safe but far from okay.
What started as a practical decision to keep an eye on Buck during the night turns to something more intimate. Sharing a bed is less out of necessity than it is for comfort.

Summary
“You look like you’re barely holding it together.”
Something in Buck cracks.
Before he can stop himself, Buck pushes off the bed, crossing the room in two quick strides. Eddie tenses, surprised, but doesn’t step back.
Buck doesn’t stop until he reaches his backpack slumped against the chair.
“Fine,” Buck says, voice tight. “You want to know what’s wrong?”
He yanks the zipper open, digging inside with jerky movements until his fingers close around the bottles.
There are three of them.
He doesn’t think. Doesn’t hesitate.
He just turns and throws them.
They hit Eddie in the chest—not hard enough to hurt, but enough to make him stumble back a step. The bottles clatter to the floor, rolling slightly before settling between them.
Silence.

Summary
A humorless laugh escapes Eddie’s lips. “Still not done?” he straightens up and leans in, eyes narrowing dangerously, “I can wait.”
“Not in traffic, apparently,” Buck mutters under his breath, quieter, because he knows he’s toeing a dangerous line and is about to traipse right over it.
The last of Eddie’s patience runs out. “That’s it. Up. Bathroom, now.”
Or, Buck is a brat and Eddie spanks him in the bathroom of the diner.
