Mike clutched at his jacket with blood-slick hands, shaking violently. “I’m a monster,” he sobbed. “I killed him. I tore him apart. I drank him. Will, I drank him—”
“You’re alive,” he said hoarsely. “You’re here. You’re you. That’s what matters.”
Mike’s head rolled back, eyes blazing again as his gaze drifted to Will’s throat. His breath hitched. A low, hungry sound crawled out of his chest.
Will felt it. Felt the moment something inside Mike shifted.
“Will,” Mike whispered, horrified. “Get away from me.”
Too late.

This takes place before/during season five. (Kinda a rewrite of season 5, too.) Also kinda Byler focused :)

Summary
The lighthearted moment is gone as easily as it came. Something heavy settles in Will’s stomach; dread. He hears children’s laughter, but there’s no one around. The ground he’s standing on isn’t stable anymore and without meaning to he starts moving, walking absentmindedly. Everything’s spinning, it’ll make him throw up. Looking at the sky makes him feel like he’s in a merry-go-round. He can’t hear his friends; he doesn’t even know where they are or where he is.
He stumbles on his feet and holds onto a tree. He hears the distant sound of people calling for someone. His mind is rushing with images, flashes of faces he can’t quite place.
“Will!” There's a hand rubbing circles on his back; he turns around to see the worried expressions of people he can’t exactly recognize, but they seem familiar. “Are you alright?” The girl with dark curls in front of him asks.
He blinks.
Mike is in front of him.

A season 5 rewrite, except im completely changing volume two and exploring the WiseOne tether, more of Will’s powers, more of Camazotz, Eleven and Mike get character development, Mike gets Vecna’d and I completely change the ending.Bookmarked by kadycakey
