Pomni is making a terrible life choice. But hey, maybe they can get a whole new tolerable Jax out of the deal, so I guess they can just let Pomni cook a little here ...Jax looked at Pomni as if she’d just casually mentioned she was planning to throw herself off the nearest cliff. “I tell you I could basically abstract at any moment and your solution is … what?? That I should date you??”
“Because holing up alone in the dark and stewing in your feelings until you mutate is a better idea?” she asked flatly. “I am so tired of fighting to be allowed to be close to you. Especially when I care about you and I’m pretty sure you also care about me.” She flopped onto her back in frustration, still holding his hand in hers. “Even though I don’t know what the right thing to do for you is … I love you, and I’m going to keep you from losing your mind in here if it kills me.”

OR: Jax escaped the Memory Lane Disaster mostly in one piece, but certainly not unscathed. Now, he must contend with not only the painful aftermath of his near-abstraction and the confusing jumble of emotions that came with it, but also the consequences of EVERYTHING he's done and rediscovering who he even is...
Maybe abstraction would have been a mercy...
