Summary
Dave has a nightmare that takes him back to a painful time, and Karkat finds him in a moment of vulnerability. Karkat lends an ear, wanting to be there to help in his awkwardly compassionate way.
They may end up resolving more than just Dave's anxiety and paranoia, however.
The unspoken tension between them has been simmering for some time, and has been pointed out by others on the meteor repeatedly. They've both pondered it long enough to face it.

Summary
Davebot actually returns for a brief moment to go and retrieve some items he left behind in that underground base that the Troll resistance used. Instead of just using his powers to go directly back in time to that exact moment, he decides he’ll just take the scenic route instead and use the Elevator since he’s pretty sure nobody is supposed to be on the base that day. Unfortunately for him, the last person he wants to see is on the base that day.

“It looks just like his door on the base…” Dirk muttered to himself. “So, this is how the switch will happen? Won’t it break the rules if they have to walk through these doors themselves?”
Calliope shook her head, “I have momentarily swapped the doors. Right now, they are both sound asleep. But when they awake and inevitably open these doors, they will find themselves in the other’s reality. After that, they will be stuck there until the day’s end.” She explained briefly.
“What if someone else enters with them?” Dirk asked.
“The doors will shut before then. They will be the only ones allowed passage.” She had outdone herself with this simple trick, though she supposed it came with the territory of being a Muse of Space.

Sitting with his legs crossed, wrong. Letting Kanaya paint his nails, wrong. Refusing to strife anymore, wrong. Feeling his heart speed up in his chest whenever he heard Karkat’s voice, wrong, wrong, wrong. But, it didn’t feel wrong. It felt right. It felt like freedom and joy only to have it sink in his stomach like lead when he could feel an icy stare behind ironic shades.
