Summary
"In your hands, there's a touch that can heal
But in those same hands, is the power to kill."*
With all his time spent at the Library recently, Neil has been excelling at his studies. It’s only too bad he can’t say the same thing about his sleep.

Summary
Fleetingly he thinks of his favourite flavour ice cream, triple choc fudge brownie with caramel bits. The others laugh, or disapprove- in Kevin’s case, they call it an addiction as if they know what it means. And perhaps they do, Andrew thinks of track marks and Aaron yelling obscenities at the bathroom door. But ice cream isn’t an addiction for Andrew, it’s a way of coping. A shitty, sugary mechanism for dopamine and unharmful urges.

Summary
Wymack has his arms crossed over his chest as he stares at Neil, eyes hard, and long enough for Neil to start feeling uncomfortable again. Before Neil can say anything, Wymack glances away and Neil follows, landing on Andrew and Renee. Wymack seems to wait till Neil has followed his gaze before delivering the punch. “And you’re going to see Betsy, I won’t have an argument with you, not about this.”
Neil snaps his head back so fast that the back of his neck twinges in pain, which he ignores in favour of gaping at Wymack. His stomach sinks down to the ground and when he swallows he feels protests scratching at the back of his throat.
“Coach…” Neil starts before he lets out a dark humourless laugh. He attempts to arrange his wobbly limbs to stand taller, firmer. “You can’t make me.”

Or, the one where Neil goes to therapy.

Summary
Neil got up to sit right in front of Andrew, phantom hands floating above Andrew’s knees, staring into his eyes, eyes that looked as dead as Neil was.

Summary
The term monster that the upperclassman love to refer to him by had not surprised him in the slightest. He was filled with monsters, it only made sense that he was branded by them.

Summary
He feels unhinged. He feels like all his bones are unspooling into piles of spaghetti that someone then tazed. Oh god-
"Does Eddie know he's gay?!!"
"You don't even know he's gay," Hen says calmly. "Not for sure. You can't assume these things unless you talk to him, Buck."
"That's why he doesn't want to date!" Buck plows on, Hen's words already buried under ten million gay possibilities. "Why he hasn't looked at a woman in over a year. Why he was always so bad at dating despite being the hottest person to walk this earth."
"Okay, I think we're getting a bit carried away here."
"Hen, he keeps wearing my clothes."
“He- what?"
OR
Buck is determined to give Eddie a fun, relaxing trip to Nashville for the firefighter games and can be so totally normal about his best friend wearing his clothes and letting his guard down and also maybe possible being gay.

Summary
“What does that feel like?” Eddie asks quietly.
Buck lets out a thin breath. “Like everything’s happening at a distance.”
Eddie doesn’t interrupt.
Buck stares at the blanket in his lap. “Like I know I’m here. I know this is me. I know I’m in this room with you.” He swallows. “But it’s like… there should be more of me in here than there is.”
Jesus.
Eddie looks down at his own hands because if he keeps staring at Buck’s face, he might get up and cross the room and do something neither of them is ready for.

Summary
The morning before Buck and Eddie get home from Nashville.
-----
God, Buck still can’t believe Eddie hotwired a car to find him. Can’t believe he rode a horse. Can’t believe he snuck out of a hospital room through a window after stealing another man’s clothes.
Can’t believe Eddie hasn’t once denied it or suggested a correction when someone mistakes him for Buck’s husband. Boyfriend. Partner. Whatever name they come up with in their head, whatever label they choose, they say it and Eddie doesn’t deny it. Doesn’t even seem to mind it. Might even look like he enjoys having someone look at the two of them, come to a conclusion, and breathe that relationship into existence.

Summary
Buck, predictably, answers within two rings. “Yellow. You’ve got Buck.”
“Hey, Buck.”
“You okay?”
Eddie lifts his head to confirm the state of his house. The orange tree is still very much there, amidst the wreckage of his home. The sole perpetrator, even.
“Sure,” he says.
Buck hesitates. “...Sure?”
“There’s a tree.”
“Where?”
“Inside my house.”
“Oh.” Eddie can practically see Buck’s eyebrows furrowing. “Like, you bought a tree?”
“No,” Eddie says. He hasn’t blinked since Buck picked up the phone. “It’s the orange tree.”
A beat of silence. “It’s inside your house.”
Eddie lets out an exhausted huff, leaning back in his chair. “Apparently.”
OR: there’s an orange tree. It’s in Eddie’s house.

Summary
"Hey, bud, it's okay," Eddie murmurs, carefully laying his hand on Buck's shoulder and shaking lightly. "You're just dreaming."
Buck's breathing stutters but his eyes don't open. Another strangled sound of distress breaks past his lips.
"Buck," Eddie says, a little more urgently. "C'mon, I need you to wake up now."
"No, no don't," Buck mumbles, voice slurred and sleepy and unmistakably terrified. "Not Eddie. Please, I can't - don't hurt him."

or, after the events in the desert leave Buck unsettled and suffering from nightmares, Eddie looks after him
