Summary
In which Shane's relationship with Rose unfolds the way it does on screen, but Ilya's father dies right before All-Star Weekend 2017. They have yet to reconnect, but Shane wants to find a way for them. He decides to come out to his team, starting with management, that spring. The Montreal Metros make it clear that they will not be the league's trailblazer for queer players and terminate his contract. The Admirals lose in game seven.
In June, Shane goes to Wimbledon with his parents. Instead of a Swedish princess, he meets the CEO of the Swedish Hockey League and makes the decision to leave North America. As a veteran playing for the Växjö Lakers, Shane becomes a mentor to guys trying to go pro in North America. Guys like his linemate, Derek Briggs.
Years later, Briggs makes the Ottawa Centaurs out of camp. The Centaurs' plane makes an emergency landing, Ilya still sends Shane those messages, but Shane doesn't answer.
(Or so Ilya thinks.)

Ilya grins, a slow, filthy unraveling of lust spilling across his face. “Moya shlyukha, I would not be able to keep my hands off of you,” he rasps, palming his dick, grinning at the faint squelch, the wet drag of his fingers. Shane bucks into his hand, his jaw dropping open, slack with need. Ilya's whole heart aches as he watches his husband sink into pleasure, hitching whimpers escaping from his throat. “You would be the star of the room, no? Every eye would be on you, thorns in their heart for all they cannot have.”
“You do,” Shane reminds him, as if it's needed, as if Ilya cannot feel it in each clench of his thighs, each wandering drag of his fingers, in the way his hips roll across Ilya's, involuntary, strangled whines rising from his mouth. “You always have.”
OR: Sometimes, simply being married to Shane isn't enough. Sometimes, Ilya wants him in ways he can't explain; caught and collared and safe beneath his hand.

Summary
In which everything is the same except Steve has a cat.
Garfield (aka “Harrington’s demon cat”, “that ginger monster”, “meanest bitch in Hawkins”) is an absolute beast of a cat. She's picky and violent and has, on multiple occasions, actually drawn blood from people just for existing in her space. Not Steve though; she loves Steve more than anything else in the world.
And for some reason, she *doesn’t* hate Billy Hargrove.

“Garfield,” Tommy repeats incredulously, “Steve’s Garfield?”
“Well, I’m not talkin’ bout the one in the fucking funny strips, am I?” Billy asks, annoyed and a little baffled.
“Steve’s cat, Garfield,” Carol repeats, slowly, like she thinks he’s a bit dumb. He scowls at her and she ignores it entirely. “She was sweet to you? Sweet how?”
Jesus Christ. “I dunno, how are any cats sweet? She purred a lot and went all relaxed when I held her – usual cat stuff.”
“You held her?!” Tommy shouts, draws eyes all to their table until Carol whips around to glare the rest of the cafeteria into submission. In a low wild hiss, “you held Steve Harrington’s cat and you’re still alive?”
