Summary
In one world, Uchiha Obito died saving Hatake Kakashi during the Kannabi Bridge mission, and came back as a vengeful specter decades later. In another, he was a second too slow. In both worlds, Team Minato came home one crucial member short.
Kakashi finds himself in another world where his team is alive, Konoha remains undestroyed, and the shinobi world approaches tentative peace with Minato spearheading the effort as the Yondaime Hokage. It's in that moment that he knows for certain: it should've been him under that boulder.
But no world is perfect. Kakashi might think this is as close as it gets, but, assuming this is reality and not the Infinite Tsukuyomi, there's always a catch. And he's right.
(Or: Kakashi loses to Obito during their fight in the Kamui dimension. He wakes up in a world that's too perfect to be his own.)

Can't believe I haven't bookmarked this ugh. My favorite ever fic that showcases what an absolutely insane genius Kakashi really is, and somehow its achieved with Kakashi not even being an active shinobi. Subtle politics that makes me actually enjoy it and managing to emphasize how op kakashi is without being overwhelming and overly dramatic or edgy about it + I absolutely love love love kakashi being good at sealing. Remarkable character building via other character's povs and beautiful beautiful beautiful writing
