In the entrance of their small cave, a vast shadow in the unlit gloom, Zircon lifts her head as First Aid rouses, stricken with an unfamiliar, agitated restlessness that isn't his own.
The hour is earlier than their usual waking, only the thinnest, most watery light penetrating the darkness. The linens below him are body-warm, but the air outside his bedding has a distinct chill to it that speaks of a winter soon to come.
First Aid doesn't quite fit in with the other dragonriders. As a Healer, his skills are more useful on the ground, even after Impressing his green dragon, but he can't hide from the inevitable.
