Will experiences the five stages of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance) after the loss of his brother Jonathan. This fic basically goes thru how his grief impacts his relationships with others as well as his view of himself and the world. yeah this is pretty depressing. lowk vent fic?? idk if i can call it that but idrc. this characterisation of Will might not necessarily be one you agree with and i totally get that, but i think it makes a lot of sense. oh yeah this completely disregards most of what happened canonically in s5. have fun y'all stay safe

Summary
Logically, Mike knows what he’s doing is weird. Somewhere, deep in the back of his mind he knows it. Still, he tells himself that it’s normal. That he is normal. That stealing a box of his best friend’s clothes labeled ‘donate’ in black marker and keeping it firmly hidden in the back of his closet was something any normal person would do. It wasn’t weird, anyone else would do the same!
And who could blame him? Mike has been surrounded by Will for as long as he can remember. They’re close! Mike cares about Will, always has. The urge to protect him, to take care of him, was so instinctual even before Mike had presented as an alpha. They were a pair, always together, attached at the hip until… well, until recently but Mike was going to work on that! He really was!
And now the Byers have moved to Lenora. To fucking California and Mike feels like he’s lost a limb.

“I’ve thought about it. I didn’t want to tell Mike, I thought suggesting it would be selfish.”
It was difficult, if not impossible, to explain why that was the way of describing something that was apparently for the benefit of both their best friends. If Max asked, he'd have no way of answering, so he thanked heaven when she didn't question him.
“Fine. Be selfish.” She tilted her head. “You never are, Byers. You can be selfish once in your life, you know?”
Will is tired of being selfless, so he decides to have some fun seducing Mike Wheeler before fucking in the back of his car. And, well, if that makes his stepsister dump him for good, that's even better.
