Summary
Maybe Eddie should’ve listened to his Abuela’s warnings (“Always lock your doors, Edmundo, and never go out in the dark at night,” she’d told him, “Los que tienen hambre no pueden ser melindrosos. If it wants to eat, it will.”) but he’d just been a kid, naive and clueless and ever so skeptical. Even present-day—as he came home from a long day of Uber-ing from dawn to dusk, stripping his clothes off and walking into the shower ready for the soothing hot water only to find it freezing cold, going outside of his fixer-upper of a house to go to the back and check if there was a problem with his haphazardly installed water heater with the only external light source being the phone that he held in his hand—he was naive.
So maybe he should’ve listened, but he hadn’t. And he wasn’t able to get the chance to regret that fact before getting bitten and dragged off by a growling creature on all fours.
Eddie gets bitten and infected by a chupacabra, Buck has to use his powers as a witch to help him.

“It’s a bit .. Eh. Inappropriate.”
Maddie raises an eyebrow at Buck, “Inappropriate how?”
“I don’t even know how to—I mean—“ He clears his throat, just saying it all in one go, “Eddiewon’tletmetouchhimduringsex.”
“Eddie won’t let you what?”
Eddie keeps batting Buck’s hand away from his dick when they sleep together, and Buck is intent on figuring out why.

Summary
Buck is a thrill-seeker; he has been since he was a kid, hopping off trees and skateboarding until his chin met the pavement, leading to many hospital visits and lectures from his parents who tended to be more worried of the financial costs they’d gain from each injury he gave himself then the actual physical well-being of their child.
But as he stands on the grounds of the annual state carnival holding a mostly disintegrated and devoured stick of cotton candy in his hand and stares up at the Skylauncher 3000, a drop tower ride with bright flashing neon lights contrasting against the night sky with deafening generic pop music playing from its speakers, he starts to wonder if maybe he’s outgrown the thrill-seeker title altogether.
Christopher wants to go on a carnival drop tower ride. Buck has his reservations.

Summary
“Move in with me?” He asks, leaning in closer to Buck so he can hear him over the sound of the fireworks and Chimney’s nonsensical yelling over whatever topic the group is currently debating.
Buck turns towards him, skin flushed from the drinks he’s had so far and colorful from the red, white, and blue filling the sky at the moment, and asks, “Are you doing this on purpose?”
“What are you—“ And then Eddie remembers that it’s a Fourth of July party they’re currently having, “Oh, right. For the record, I am not.”
Buck has the idea that having relationship milestones on important dates is the worst possible thing that a pairing can do. Eddie has the bad habit of doing exactly that.

Summary
Eddie rolls his eyes, “You’re just pissy that they crushed you at poker last week.”
“Hey, can you blame me? That cut of wagyu looked like it cost about—“
“You went to the poker game?” Buck blurts out, interrupting the two’s back and forth. “With Eddie?”
“Yeah man, Tim’s a killer at poker. Just got dealt a bad hand last time,” Eddie explains, “Happens to the best of us.”
The pit is growing even larger, and Buck laughs, aiming for a sound of pleasant surprise and instead sounding deranged to his own ears. So what if Eddie’s invited Tim to the ultra top secret poker games presumably multiple times, even though he only invited Buck as a once off deal because of his temporary lightning math powers, who even cares? Not Buck! Because Buck is normal. He is.
Buck get jealous of another one of Eddie’s first responder friends. The consequences are a bit different this time around.

Summary
“Hey,” Buck says, in the hospital room after it’s all over. “Just so you know, I’m in love with you.”
His voice is raspy, his smile a little self-deprecating. His eyes, when Eddie stares at him in surprise, are steady and blue. He doesn't sound like he’s blurting something out, or getting something off his chest, or confessing something he’s embarrassed of. He just sounds like he’s telling Eddie about the weather, something mundane. The sun is hot in the sky, they’re in New Mexico, and Buck is, apparently, in love with him.
Buck confesses to Eddie after the kidnapping. Eddie, in a fit of madness, accepts his confession. It'll be fine - just because Eddie isn't in love with Buck, doesn't mean he can't be his boyfriend.

Summary
Buck exhales, holding a sob back. His hand shakes over his mouth, and Eddie stays silent. “I used to be homeless, you know.” He sniffs, shaking his head. He can feel Eddie’s gaze on him. “But, Eddie—I can’t be that brave again. I don’t wanna stay at another homeless shelter and get kicked out in the afternoons and go to church because I have no where else to stay and at least they have heating.
“I just—I need this. I need to stay. Here. I need to stay here, and you need to say that’s okay, because I’m not strong enough to handle that again. ‘M not.”
or: Eddie comes back from Texas, and Buck starts to feel weird about living in his house. For more than one reason.

Summary
Somewhere between watching them leave and contemplating on the ridiculousness of his situation with Mr. and Mrs. Williams, Buck willed himself to walk out of the station. He didn't really remember how he got to his car, all he knew was that his hand was on the handle to open the door. He was about to get in when Eddie came up behind him and said, “You're coming over.”
“Are you asking me or telling me?”
“Telling, follow me home.”
Buck's very rarely, if ever, been one to tell Eddie no so he did what Eddie told him to, he followed him home. He'd follow Eddie into an active volcano, following him to 4995 South Bedford was nothing.
Or: Buck and Eddie are in love with each other, their souls have known it since they met each other, their minds, however, take a while to catch up.
Or: Eight year long situationship turns into an eleven year long situationship after very ill advised sex.
