Why did they even let him in when he'd shown up on their doorstep in the first place? Ford keeps asking himself this question over and over, yet gets no reasonable answer. None that logically explains why they are still putting up with this nightmare, at least. Because they believe in forgiveness? Because everyone deserves a second chance? Because killing a human is wrong? Or was it because Bill was trembling, covered head to toe in blood and mud, blonde hair matted, and Ford could count his ribs just by looking at him, when he opened that front door?
Ford doesn't know, but regrets this decision more than anything. Because now Bill is their responsibility, his responsibility, and he simply can't throw a human, whose self-destructive behavior is a textbook definition of a scream for help, out on the street.Bookmarked by ratsplendor
