They’re interrupted by explosions that shake the city around them, and he knows the night isn’t over just yet. Tortured or not, he has to help. There is no other option. He digs deep, panting through the pain, forcing it down, compartmentalizing. A wave rushes through him as he grits his teeth, and everything feels… a little better. Tolerable.
He pulls himself up on his own two feet, getting there by himself, just like he always has.

He looks up at her. “I remember forcing you to relive some of your worst memories. And then you – all of you – seeing mine. And helping me.” He shakes his head, misery etched on his face. “I didn’t deserve it then, and I don’t deserve this now.”
Yelena sets down her mug and leans over the counter. She opens her palm in an invitation. He stares at it for a long moment before slipping his larger hand over hers, gripping her tight like a lifeline.
“Listen to me,” she says. “Valentina is to blame for that. Not you. She took advantage of you and used you. What you can do now… no one could have known that would be the result. But we figured it out. And we can also figure out what to do if you feel like that again.”
The team moves into the Tower. It takes some getting used to.

Two-Body Problem; noun, Astronomy, Mechanics. The problem of finding the motion, relative to one another, of two objects, where the position of each affects the motion of the other.
He lowers his saber but does not turn it off. “Hey there,” he says. “You need to get out of here, evacuate off the planet. It’s not safe.”
“Mechanical failures on levels four and nine,” the droid responds. “Full breach detected on level twelve.”
Cal frowns. “Maybe it’s stuck in some kind of auto programming?” he asks BD.
“Scanning. Total system failure. Anomaly detected. Signature unknown.”
BD chitters nervously on his shoulder.
“Hey,” Cal tries again. “If you can hear me – the exit is through that corridor, up the incline. Meet me out there, and I’ll get you out of here, okay?”
The droid shuffles around again, as if responding to something that he and BD cannot see.
“Anomaly detected.” it says again. And then it looks right at Cal. “Escape is futile.”

another explosion comes and goes and, as usual, refuses to take robert with it. with the fate of the suit uncertain, he’s forced to confront the truth he’s been avoiding: the suit might never give him the ending he’d spent half his life expecting. which leaves him with the one outcome he’s utterly unprepared for—being alive in a room full of people who actually give a shit.

Summary
Yelena sees Bob start to rise, to reach for the latch securing the back doors, and – she lunges for him, grabs his arm, and pulls him back before she can think twice about it.
OR
Bob's heroic sacrifice is slightly delayed – and he’s unceremoniously dragged into the back of a stolen OXE truck and carted away by the Thunderbolts. With their erstwhile savior in such rough shape, it only makes sense that they stop for the night at a motel along the way, just until he’s well enough to call on his newfound powers again. Yelena doesn’t like the idea of leaving him alone until he’s fully recovered, and there aren’t enough rooms for each of them anyway, so the solutions seems obvious: she’ll stay with Bob and look after him as needed. It’s only logical, isn’t it?
And this desire to stay near him… well, that’s natural too, right? It’s just… concern, that’s all.

Thoughts turn to floods. Words become shrouded. Touches become weapons, a storm of arrows raining on her mind at night, spearing her with the want to give him what he wants. To follow him to his room at night. To step close and trickle a hand down his chest; to be a waterfall pooling at his hips.
Hazard zone.
With the responsibility of leading the New Avengers weighing on her, Yelena can only hope she's strong enough to save the people who need saving. She faces her fears by emptying mags and pushing her body to oblivion. That's always the plan.
Half a year is how long it takes for Yelena to be afraid of what Bob means to her. She's pretty sure fighting isn't her best option anymore.
