    Summary

“Hey, babe. Been looking everywhere for you.”

The voice was low, honeyed, warm in all the right places. It fell over Rumi in a way the man’s voice hadn’t, settling into her bones and gnawing faintly, already leaving impressions on her marrow.

And yet another touch, this one lighter, a palm splayed across the small of her back, a second body pressing into hers from behind.

“Yeah, we thought we lost you for a sec there.” This voice, a little higher, but no less deadly.

    Not one, but two strangers.

“Can’t you see you’re interrupting something?” the guy snapped at them.

“Can’t you see,” the first voice mocked, “she’s not yours?”

    OR

Two women step in when a guy gets pushy with Rumi at a bar. What happens after is meant to be a one-night stand, nothing more.

But rarely do things turn out exactly the way they're meant to.

    Summary

She doesn't know how she gets to Celine. She aches for acceptance, for the embrace of a mother who has never known her, and if not that, then for the love of the woman who raised her. She has yearned and begged and torn herself apart trying to get it, so it's no wonder that Celine shies away from her.

She drops to her knees and holds out her sword.

Rumi is a thing that wants, and she wants to die.

    ---

canon-divergence sparked by the thought of "what if rumi really *did* lose her markings?" and also contemplating how rumi has definitely contemplated her own death a lot more than that one scene, then choosing the most painful possible option for those questions.

this was supposed to be a oneshot but I'm attached to it now. oops.

new note: this work is still being edited! if you re-read it and it looks different, it probably is. currently editing for continuity and characterization. chapter one is pretty much done <3

    Summary

No, that… that can't be it. If it's been here, like this, the whole time, she would've known. She would've understood. She would've…

    Wouldn't she?

    ---

Rumi is still figuring out how to live in a world where she isn't constantly under pressure... and, as it turns out, safety comes with processing. And processing comes with mental breakdowns and triggers she had no idea existed.

    Summary

She leaned in, just enough for her breath to hit Rumi’s cheek.

    Rumi’s fingers curled.

Mira’s eyes dropped, first to Rumi’s lips, then down her neck, her collarbone, her chest rising fast. Too fast. This was no longer about winning. Not really.

The anger had bled into something else entirely.

But Rumi’s other hand pressed flat against her shoulder. A warning.

    Then.. forceful.

Mira was shoved off and onto her back with a frustrated grunt.

    or

Mira swears she doesn’t like Rumi. She just happens to stare at her in training. And in the kitchen. And when she stretches. And okay maybe once when she was drinking water like it was the sexiest thing ever. But that doesn’t mean anything. Right?

    Summary

A billboard lit up the highway, an energy drink ad with their photos: all three of them posed, smiling fake smiles, slogans like “Hunt your fears.” The background showed a colorful digital monster, a play of light and shadow that felt like a gentle tease.

    Mira laughed quietly.
    “Look, that ad’s still running.”

Rumi was about to answer but there was no time.

A sudden white flash, way too close.

    Then the sound.

A sharp bang, metal bending. Glass exploding into a thousand shards.

    And then silence.

    -OR-

The hunters are forced to face their most human side, and learn that they are not as invincible as they think.

⚠️ Expect gore, trauma, and a heavy dose of medical realism (I volunteer as an EMT, so I went a little wild with the details).
If that’s not your thing, this might not be your story.
