“I’m just so proud of you, baby.” He feels a weight lifted off his shoulders- which is ridiculous, he’s ridiculous for thinking that she would be anything but proud. Nonetheless, he feels relieved. He smiles, fiddling with his fingers again.
“It’s really nothing.” He says, “Mike keeps talking about how they’re innate but…but they’re not. They’re siphoned, from Vecna.” The mention of his name makes Joyce’s eyes go wide.
“Well, last I checked no one else can do that.” She shrugs, her eyes still wide. Will chuckles, looking at the floor, “Hey, all I’m saying is that I think you need to have a little more trust in yourself.” She leans forward, putting a hand on his cheek. He leans into it, into the warmth of her hand, “You didn’t fail, okay?” She says, and he nods, even though he doesn’t really believe it, “You saved Mike- all your friends. You did that, baby.” She shakes her head, “Not Vecna, just you.”
Will can feel himself tearing up for about the millionth time that night, “I can make it right.” He settles on, “We just need a new plan, a better plan.”
Right, a better plan. Easier said than done.

Mike went so still he might’ve stopped breathing. The basement’s single bulb flickered overhead, casting jagged shadows across his frozen expression. “L-looked?” he rasped.
“At me.” Will’s fingers trembled where they gripped his own knees. The denim was rough under his nails. “Down there. To—to tell me if it’s…” The word ugly dissolved on his tongue.
Mike made a sound like a wounded animal. His Adam’s apple bobbed violently.
“Jesus, Will. I can’t just—” His hands fluttered helplessly before clenching into fists. A drop of sweat slid down his temple. “That’s—fuck. That’s private.”
Will hunched forward, elbows on his knees. The hole in the couch gaped wider beneath him, stuffing spilling out like guts. “More private than the entire Party knowing my sex life?”

Another sharp noise escapes Will. Mike stiffens, tugging his hands away as he mentally calculates the flight cost for a one-way trip from New York to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, until Will leans back into his hands with a soft sigh.
"Yeah," he says, softly. "Yeah, it's— it's good."
When Mike touches the back of Will’s neck, Will loses himself. Mike, obviously, decides to abuse this.

Summary
Mike’s been waiting 737 days for this exact moment, always too intimately aware of every single second that’s passed him by since he disappeared. “You’re alive,” he tells him, stupid and reverent. This time, it seems to get through to Will. He watches the hard exterior recede, exposing the gentle warmth that Mike has always admired
“I’m alive,” Will repeats. “I’m alive.” He lets out a hysterical giggle and suddenly he’s the one falling into Mike, limbs tangling and hands clutching at each other until he can’t tell where one of them ends and the other begins. “And you’re here. You came for me.”
Will’s fingers dig into his forearms. Mike swallows the instinctive I would always come for you on the tip of his tongue.
OR: Even after watching Will get trapped in the Upside Down for good, Mike never stopped believing he was alive. After stumbling upon a gate two years later, he takes a chance and learns to finally follow his heart.

Mike let out a shaky groan, his head falling back into the pillow. He felt completely hollowed out and filled up at the same time. He reached up, tangling his fingers in Will’s damp hair, pulling him up so their lips were inches apart.
"You're unbelievable," Mike muttered, looking at Will’s mouth, which was shining and wet. "I thought you were the quiet one. The 'angel.' But look at you. You’re a total addict."
Will leaned down, pressing a slow, messy kiss to Mike’s lips, sharing the taste of the night with him. "Only for you, Mike. Only for you."
Or,
Mike and Will spend the day teasing their friends about their secret night before heading back to the dorm for a wild, intense encounter. Mike takes total control until they collapse together, ending with a bold and messy display of Will’s love. They wake up the next morning for a sweet, quiet breakfast, hiding away from the world in each other's arms.
