Summary
Over the course of her life—both outside of the circus, and within it—Jax has wanted a lot of things that she thought she couldn’t have. She's lost friends over it before (in the most vague and the most terrible sort of ways), and she nearly lost everything she had with Pomni over it, too.
She’d been resigned to avoiding it all for so long because none of it was supposed to be for her. But having arrived at some new conclusions with the help of an appearance-changing adventure and an argument in the woods, she thinks that maybe it’s time to figure out the kind of life she really wants to live. She knows who she is, now, after all; surely that has to count for something?
(But this is, of course, about more than being a girl.)
(Or: A series of girls’ nights between Pomni and 'Jax'. Two where they hesitate for just a moment too long, and one where they don't.)

“You mean the one we didn’t even do?“ Zooble interrupted, exasperated.
“-I’ve decided a different team building adventure is in order!” Caine continued. “One that’s perfectly designed to help you better understand your fellow circus members!”
Pomni took a step back, not looking forward to whatever this was going to be.
Caine snapped his fingers and opened a portal. “By the end, all of your issues will be completely resolved! And we can finally move past all this interpersonal drama and get back to enjoying all of my amazing adventures! Have fun, my terrific little teacups!”
“W-wait-“ Ragatha stammered as they all tried to resist being pulled forward. “Aren’t you going to explain what we’re doing!?”
“Ah-ah! No spoiling the show!” Caine said as the force behind the portal became stronger and they all got sucked in.
Or: Jax has been avoiding Pomni since their fight, but when an adventure involving memories goes wrong, will she find a way to get through to him in time, or will his past turn out to be too much for both of them?

“So," Pomni started, "You feel like shit?”
Jax scoffed.
“That’s an understatement.”
“Do you- um- want to talk about why?”
“Oh sure! Let’s see, it's not like I just pressed the button of eternal doom and entrapment in front of every single person in this stupid place,” he snapped.
After a beat, Jax slapped a hand to his forehead, gasping sarcastically. Despite the darkness, his pupils were already beginning to shrink in panic as tears gathered at the corners of his eyes.
“Oh wait! That’s exactly what I did!”
Pomni’s eyebrows furrowed.
“Hey, look, Caine forced you to; it’s not like anyone can blame you for-”
“No.”
His voice broke, scratchy and raw, as he tugged at his ears.
“No, he didn’t.”

Under the guise of returning his bucket of keys, Pomni stops by Jax's room after the disastrous "Escape The Circus" adventure to check in on him. Jax, predictably, breaks down. Pomni, predictably, stays to put him back together again.
