Hi all so this is a series that starts off with "Don't let this darkness fool you" and will then have some one-shots or offshoots that fill in the timeline between chapters 11 and 12 and post chapter 12 of that work. Those one-shots will get posted as they are completed and reordered within the series as more are added. As with "Don't let this darkness fool you" please check the tags for each of the other fics, cause this entire series includes dealing with mental health issues, including but not limited to suicide, self-harm, and depression, and how the BatFamily deals with that. Most of the one-shots will be much lighter in comparison to "Don't let this darkness fool you" but those issues will remain a throughline and discussion point.

Bruce looked up at him sharply. The boy’s expression shifted then with something older than his face suggested he should be capable of carrying, with something heavy settling behind his eyes. He didn’t flinch away from Bruce’s glare, in the same way he didn’t blink in the face of the violence and blood. He just sat in his red hood, small body tucked defensive but somehow coming off as casual, and his bright young blue eyes looked at Bruce like someone that Bruce should remember.
“Those weren’t the ones who needed savin’,” the boy said. “And you know that.”
“Then who does?” Bruce asked.
The boy stood and took a few steps backward, already turning away. The rain picked up again, wind tugging at the boy’s hoodie as he moved along the rooftop edge. “You’re gettin’ closer.”
“Just remember,” he called over his shoulder, “judgment ain’t always about punishment. Sometimes it’s about what you carry after.”
“Wait,” Bruce said, suddenly desperate. “I still don’t know your name.”
The boy paused, just for a second, then glanced back with a crooked half-smile. “Yes, you do,” he said, sadly and bitterly at the same time despite the smile on his face. “That’s kinda the problem.”
