Keefe Irwin Sencen was thirteen years old when he volunteered for the hunger games (He wants to say he saved Fitz, but not really. Fitz would've survived. This is just another reckless decision of his, just some desperate plea to get people to love him and not to lose the one that pretends to. That's Keefe for you. )
Sophie Elizabeth Ruewen-Foster is a week away from sixteen when she ends up caught in this mess. (She isn't coming back alive. Not when her competitor is the Vacker's golden boy, and her mentor is his best friend.)

And it scares Fitz.
It scares him so much. Because if he's just a boy, then what is Fitz?
"I'm sorry," The boy whispers, trembling.
And somehow, as he holds the boy's hand, shaking, Fitz lets himself believe it.Or,

Essentially a fix-it, but can be considered a canon divergence, since first half sticks to canon and headcanons.

This is like, the best fic I have ever read, hands down. Was also like the first fic I've ever read for Keefitz, and the first I read for kotlc, and now I am a lifetime shipper thanks to this fic. This is like the fic I migrated from wattpad to ao3 for, because I was stalking the author everywhere (If you're reading I'm so sorry I swear I'm not creepy I'm just madly in love with your writing) Genuinely, I cry every time I remember this because it's just so beautiful. I will forever be in love with this, forever be mad that I could never write something like this, and forever never stop praising it. Like, this just influenced my writing so much, and words can't describe how much I adore this fic. This is, I repeat, my favorite fic of all time. Like, I would kill everyone and everything to read this again for the first time. If I could give a thousand kudos, I would, and at this point I'm too shy to comment yet I linger there for hours typing something out before my anxiety makes me delete it
