"What are you doing out here?" Enji rumbles, which Hawks figures is a fair enough question given it's not even three in the morning. The moon hangs low over the city, its full roundness sharp and crystal clear in the night.
He shivers, no wings at his back any longer to wrap around himself to keep warm. He should have put on a shirt, instead of just grabbing the first pair of pajama pants he'd found strewn on the floor. They're Enji's, and even with the drawstring pulled as tight as it will go, they sit low on his hips.
Still, the chilly air feels nice on his face. If he closes his eyes, he can almost imagine he's flying.

There's a clamour of protest when Lihua stands as well, but it comes to a stop when she raises one graceful hand. "I suppose that will be acceptable," Lihua says, her head high and haughty. Her eyes spark wickedly. "I shall always remember the day the Precious Consort served as my maid."

“Professor,” Luo Binghe said, dipping his head in greeting—so much more formal than the bright ball of energy that Shen Qingqiu remembered from class. The last time Shen Qingqiu had seen him, he’d wished Binghe good luck with his Master’s and admonished him to keep in touch. He was the brightest student Shen Qingqiu had ever taught in all his five years at Cang Ciong. They’d spent hours upon hours discussing literature and theory; by the end of Binghe’s degree, Shen Qingqiu had almost thought they were friends.
And then—
Then, Luo Binghe had disappeared without a trace, turning down his offer of acceptance into Cang Ciong’s Master’s program and attending Huan Hua instead. Shen Qingqiu hadn’t heard from him for two years—and here he was now, standing there in the lounge looking like he belonged there.
Or, two years after Luo Binghe disappears, Shen Qinqiu is reunited with his former student.
