    Starting in Shiz but mostly taking place somewhere between Act 1 and Act 2 in the first half. From chapter 24 onwards the story is mostly post canon though contains frequent flashbacks to the past.

    Trying to explain it makes Glinda realize how little she understands of the past few days – weeks, really: a letter from Elphaba, delivered by a Pigeon at her window, entreating her for help. Elphaba, alive somehow against all odds. And Fiyero too, apparently right there under her nose all along, hideously transformed into that straw abomination. And then transformed again, worse still, back to this state of brokenness, on the edge of death.

    Elphaba has been the architect of it all, Glinda thinks, yet barely present. Certainly not explaining or apologizing. Talking about resources and expectations. Telling her that Fiyero didn’t want her involved. Suddenly she feels like the biggest fool of all, for trusting Elphaba yet again despite all of the times she’s been betrayed.

    "Are you lost?" she asks, snapping the book closed with a thud for emphasis. "I get that the door has text on it, you know—words. Do you need help sounding them out?"
    Fiyero just shrugs, sauntering closer. He pulls out a chair across from her and drops into it. "Reading’s tough," he says solemnly. "But I can manage two words if I really concentrate."
    "Mhm." She points a finger, without looking up, at the sign behind her. "Try those next."
    "Yep. Says Quiet Please." He leans forward, folding his arms on the table and dropping his chin onto them. "You’re the one making noise, though, by asking questions and frankly, bullying me."

    Five daylight quarrels between Elphaba and Fiyero in the library—and one night when the arguing stopped and the library was closed.
    This is a Shiz-Era fic, slightly deviates from canon post Lion cub scene, to give space for more university shenanigans.
