Summary
Stelly is awful, but her parents dote on him regardless. Dote on him even more than they do Sachie,
than they used to with Sabo. After all, the King of Goa only has two daughters, the elder of whom will one day be Queen, and that makes sons of a certain age all the more valuable to noble families at the moment. The highest station that Sachie could hope to marry is a boy a few years older than herself, a cousin-once-removed of the King, whom she distinctly remembers getting into an awful fight with Sabo once. She also distinctly remembers her mother fretting over the higher-ranked boy, and trying to get Sachie to do so as well, while Sabo stood there scuffed and bleeding with his head hanging low.Privately, only in the safety of her own mind, Sachie thinks she would rather leave Goa entirely than marry such a boy. And she also, in those moments, understands completely why Sabo chose to run away, rather than participate in the stupid competition to marry a princess.
(That doesn’t make her miss him any less.)
