Cody anxiously shifted from foot to foot, a habit that even his trainers on Kamino had never quite been able to break. He usually hid his nervous fidget better when he was in his armor, but it was glaringly obvious in his current state of dress. He was standing in Obi-Wan’s quarters in the Jedi temple, which wasn’t altogether that unusual. He had been there many times before to work on paperwork or simply to talk with his Jetii .
No, what set his nerves on end was the fact that he was currently dressed in tightly fitting synthleather pants, a thin white t-shirt and an orange-brown jacket. He was waiting for Obi-Wan to emerge from the refresher so they could get started with their mission. The sooner they finished the better. He felt strange and exposed without his armor. His outfit left nowhere to conceal a blaster so he was only able to have two vibroblades with him. One was stashed in his jacket, and the other tucked into his boot.
He looked down to pull a loose thread from his jacket when he heard the refresher door open. He was entirely unprepared for the sight that greeted him when he lifted his gaze to look at his general. If he thought he was exposed in his outfit, he didn’t even want to know how Obi-Wan felt in his. He had traded his Jedi robes for a mesh crop top with a dark leather vest over it. His pants left absolutely nothing to the imagination and hugged his legs tightly. His hair was slicked back and he was wearing eyeliner . Cody barely managed to hold back a strangled whine. Kriff, Obi-Wan looked hot like this .
“What do you think?” Obi-Wan turned to show off his outfit in its entirety. Haar’chak! His ass is glorious. Cody nearly had an aneurysm at the sight before him. The pants really left nothing to the imagination and hugged Obi-Wan’s ass in a way that wouldn’t look out of place on a performer in some of the seedier nightclubs on Coruscant. Cody struggled to tear his eyes away from his general’s ass as the man spun back around.
Obi-Wan blushed slightly under Cody’s gaze. “Too much?” He asked, tugging on his vest.
It took a second for his brain to process the words. Realizing he was practically salivating over his commanding officer, he quickly shut down all of the rogue thoughts in his brain and pushed them into the mental box that he labeled ‘no, never, do not touch’. He shook his head and managed to keep his voice steady and calm when he replied, “Not at all, Sir. It is just…different than how you usually dress and it caught me off guard.”
“Well, when going undercover, one must pull out all the stops.” He smirked. It was at that moment Cody noticed the thin layer of glitter coating every inch of his exposed skin.
He huffed in acknowledgement at Obi-Wan’s statement. “Well, Sir, you certainly won’t be recognized as a Jedi in that outfit.”
“Please, Cody, I’ve told you before, you can call me Obi-Wan when we are off duty.”
“Of course…Obi-Wan.” He tested. Obi-Wan’s smile brightened and Cody decided that he liked saying his general’s name. Maybe he would start using it more often when off duty, even if it could be considered inappropriate. Obi-Wan certainly didn’t seem to mind it.
“Shall we?” Obi-Wan offered, gesturing for Cody to lead the way through the door.
Cody nodded and smiled back politely while internally cursing the situation he had gotten himself into. He had to focus on their mission and protect Obi-Wan while they waited in some seedy nightclub for a thief the Coruscant guard had been working to apprehend for months. He couldn’t allow himself to get distracted, even if every aspect of Obi-Wan’s disguise was inherently distracting. He shook his head to clear his thoughts.
As they walked through the temple to get to one of the hidden side exits, Cody could feel the eyes of everyone they passed staring at them. Or, more likely, staring at Obi-Wan. He could understand why though. It was difficult not to stare at the man, especially when he was dressed like this.
After walking past what felt like the entire population of the Jedi Temple, they finally made their way outside to a hidden ledge where a speeder was waiting to take them to the nightclub their target had last been reported to frequent. Obi-Wan gracefully hopped into the speeder and held out a hand for Cody. He took it and tried not to act weird.
In a completely normal and casual move, he hopped into the speeder beside Obi-Wan and lost his balance, almost knocking the two of them over. He caught himself on Obi-Wan’s chest and he could feel the man chuckling at his blunder. He looked up and caught a glimmer of something in his eyes that reminded him he was still pressed up against his superior officer.
“Not a word,” he grumbled, settling down into his seat with as much grace as he could muster.
Obi-Wan did not say anything. Mostly because he was too busy laughing at him to get a word out.
“ Ne’johaa!” Cody said, suitably embarrassed.
“I didn’t say anything!” Obi-Wan smirked back at him.
He huffed and turned away from Obi-Wan who let out a small chuckle before a comfortable, if not slightly embarrassed silence settled over them.
“It feels strange,” he murmured to Obi-Wan, breaking their silence before it got suffocating, “dressing like this, and not having any of my gear.”
“I’m confident you could manage perfectly fine in any manner of dress, even if you were only to be armed with a dull spork, my dear,” Obi-Wan smiled nicely at him and he felt his cheeks warm. He hoped his blush wasn’t too obvious.
“But I understand the discomfort when you are so used to one thing for so long. Thankfully, I’ve had my fair share of wild nights out with Quinlan Vos where I am comfortable in any state of dress required of me. You will get used to things quickly, I assure you, Cody.”
He sighed, wanting to believe his jetii . Noticing the nightclub they were headed to, he took a deep breath and smoothed down his jacket. “I hope so, Obi-Wan, because we’re here.”
As they stepped out of the speeder, Cody thought back over their mission details. They were looking for a Rhodian man suspected of drugging people’s drinks in order to steal their wallets, coin purses, or any expensive jewelry his victims had on them. The Coruscant guard had needed trustworthy witnesses of these crimes to make an arrest so they asked the Jedi council for assistance in the investigation. Which is how Obi-Wan and Cody ended up in a seedy Coruscanti nightclub together. They had been sent to observe their target to see if they could catch him actually doing any of the wrongdoings he is suspected of. They were there to learn and observe with strict orders not to engage or give away their identities.
Obi-Wan held out his arm and Cody took it, playing his part for the mission. They could hear the music blasting from the club as they approached the entrance. Once inside, Cody had to take a second to adjust his eyes to the chaos. The club was full of patrons all parting, drinking, and dancing around. The overhead lights were dim and Cody struggled to see the middle of the dance floor through the crowd and the brightly colored laser lights.
They fought their way to the bar and Obi-Wan ordered them drinks while Cody scanned the area for their target. He finally spotted the man after a moment, sitting further down the bar from them. He nudged Obi-Wan’s arm and flashed him a quick ‘target spotted’ using the battle sign that the vode and the jetii had developed early in the war. Obi-Wan nodded and held out his drink to him. Cody looked at the glass in mild surprise. It was a spiced Corellian whiskey.
The first time Cody had tried spiced Corellian whiskey, was after a tough battle out on some backwater world in the outer rim. They had lost a lot of men, and during their post-battle paperwork session, Obi-Wan had offered him some from his personal stash. Cody had liked the flavor of the drink, and when he had the opportunity to have something nicer than the illegally brewed rotgut his brothers made that he definitely wasn’t supposed to know about, it had become his go-to order. But he hadn’t expected Obi-Wan to remember that.
Nonetheless, Obi-Wan was holding out the drink to him and smiling in a way that let Cody know he had in fact remembered. For himself, Obi-Wan had ordered a small shot of something bright blue in color that smelled vaguely sweet as well as some fruity cocktail that Cody wasn’t even going to attempt to name. He nodded in the vague direction of their target and made their way to a spot along the wall with a better and less conspicuous vantage point.
The two of them stuck to the walls as the night went on. They had finished their drinks a short while ago and were talking about various things to occupy the time. They moved around the room, always keeping an eye on their suspect, but being careful not to get caught staring, which was tougher than expected in a smaller nightclub such as this.
Finally, after nearly two hours, they watched as the Rhodian did exactly what they had expected him to do. He slipped something into the drinks of a couple that had been sitting at the bar. Once that couple had finished their drinks, he began chatting with them and somehow convinced the couple to just hand over their belongings. The couple then left the bar, uncaring about the fact they had just been robbed.
Obi-Wan and Cody waited for a moment to not seem suspicious and slowly made their way back along the walls towards the door. As they did so, Obi-Wan looked to make sure they hadn’t been spotted.
About halfway to the door, Obi-Wan let out a soft curse.
“What?” He asked, concerned.
Obi-Wan turned to face him and stepped closer into his space. “I accidentally made eye contact with him. I don’t know if he thought anything of it or not.”
Cody braved a look and saw the Rhodian slipping away from the bar and making his way through the dance floor towards them. It was tough for the man to get through, but Cody could tell he was headed right for the two of them. Haar’chak!
“He’s walking our way, Obi-Wan, what do we do? The council told us not to engage or give away our cover.” Cody hissed frantically, facing Obi-Wan in hopes of hiding his words. “If he gets too much closer it’ll be pretty obvious that I’m a clone and he will probably put two and two together.”
“Do you trust me, Kote?” Obi-Wan asked, using his true name.
“With my life.” He responded without hesitation.
“Alright, but please know, I am sorry for this.”
“Sorry for wha-”
Cody’s words were cut off by the press of Obi-Wan’s lips against his. Obi-Wan had one hand tightly gripping his shirt and the other settling low on Cody’s waist and Cody let his brain short circuit for a moment before snapping back into focus and returning the kiss. He tangled a hand in Obi-Wan’s hair and used it to tilt the other man’s head, allowing him to deepen the kiss even further.
Obi-Wan groaned and pulled him in closer, close enough that Cody was now pressing him against the wall with the strength of their kiss. They broke apart to breathe and Obi-Wan immediately started pressing kisses all the way along his jaw up to his ear. Cody stretched his neck up to give Obi-Wan space.
“Sorry for not asking you properly first, I did not have the time to explain. I believe our cover is safe, but we could also benefit from staying longer, if only to become…better accustomed with the venue,” Obi-Wan whispered in his ear, biting softly at his earlobe.
Cody pulled back just enough to look Obi-Wan in the eyes. Both of them were breathing heavily as they fought to catch their breath. Obi-Wan raised an eyebrow at him coyly. Cody huffed out a laugh. “I think it wouldn’t hurt if we stayed for a bit longer, better safe than sorry.”
He slowly leaned back in, watching Obi-Wan’s face for any sign of alarm or protest, yet he found none. Obi-Wan’s breath hitched and a shiver ran down his body the moment their lips were reunited. He knew right then and there that he wanted to see all of Obi-Wan’s reactions, hear all of his soft little noises.
The kiss started off slow but it didn’t stay that way for long, as they grew more and more desperate to feel the touch of the other.
This was not a kiss shared between a commander and a general, hoping to maintain their cover on a mission. It was a kiss shared between Obi-Wan and Kote . This kiss was for them alone.
