Helmut closed his fist tight around the old key, forcing himself to take a steady breath. This was a bad idea. Everything in his body told him this was a bad idea, and yet here they were outside of his home. Sam Wilson and the King of Wakanda, with James propped up between. He didn't want to do this. He had sworn to himself he would never come back to his place. But Sam and James were... friends was too strong a word for it. However, they were the first people since his country fell who genuinely appeared to care about him. Even if it was only because Sam Wilson was too good a man to hate anyone, and James too miserable a one to not find a kindred kinship with Helmut, even if he hated the baron.
Or Bucky gets injured on a mission and Zemo is forced to bring them to his family's home.

Summary
This is my take on a post-canon reconciliation. In which Dina never stopped loving Ellie, and deep down always wished she’d come home. It’ll be a little bumpy, and Ellie hates herself for a while, and Dina needs some time, but she’s not going to waste what little precious time they have in this ruthless, unpredictable, and unforgiving world by holding on to her own hurt and anger out of pure spite.
Or: Ellie survives, much to her own dismay. But if she was really intent on dying, then she would have found a way. Her own iron will, combined with Dina’s love and support, will pull her through her own darkness.
The happy ending starts somewhere in the middle.
If you want a fic where Dina hates Ellie for an unreasonable amount of time and makes her jump through ten thousand hoops to prove herself then this is not the one.
