“Cody.”
Like an angel materializing out of thin air, his Jedi appears, standing before Cody, the picture of serenity, feet planted on the surface. The black seems to curl away from him, and his copper hair almost glows, framing his face like a fiery halo. Cody can’t help but gaze up at him in awe, and a little something else that shan’t be named.
“Why did you leave?”
His voice echoes, all around the black expanse Cody failed to navigate, and with it, his hurt. Cody frowns, blood turning impossibly colder. Leave?

3 years after Order 66, Cody and Obi Wan meet again in their dreams. Neither are aware of this. They speak.

Summary
The first time he meets his General, the first time he meets the Jedi assigned to him, he’d known straight away that it’s him—the man he would follow. The man he would dedicate his life to.
Simultaneously, he wonders if everything he’s been taught about the Jedi is a lie. The Jedi, he was told, are calm. Kind. Peacemakers leading the warfront, an oxymoron in itself.
There is nothing composed about the man hurtling down the hallway.

The first time his commander introduced himself as CC-2224, he’d been sick enough. He didn’t think it was possible to feel sicker.
Now, staring at Cody, introducing himself for the second time as CC-2224, he feels the bile rise in his throat, horror crashing over him, and realises he was wrong.

“I held such faith in you,” she says, not turning to face him.
Dagan wishes she would, if only so he could read her expression. The steps between them feel a galaxy wide. He never meant for it to be this way.
“Hoped that you would wake up, and see reason.”
There are no words to be said. That can be said. Nothing he could possibly say to explain himself. Still, he tries, searching himself for something, anything.
“I..”
“But I was blind.”
“What?”
She rises, then, turning to him, and he almost wishes she would turn back around.

For the first time, Dagan falters, his eyes widening, the blade wavering in his grip. Then he is spiralling in the Force, a maelstrom of anger and despair.
“You don’t know anything about me!”
“No, but she does. Santari.” The name shakes him, gives him pause again. Cal takes it as his cue to go on.
OR
What would have happened if the two of them had actually talked: if Cal had tried just a little harder to appeal to him, and if Dagan had been just a little less murderous.

“I must admit this is a delightful development though, you have my congratulations. And Cody’s, he’ll never say it but I’ll tell it to you on his behalf,” Kenobi chirps.
Quinlan crosses his arms, grumbling.
“Oh shove it, Kenobi, you aren’t any better.”
“That, we are in agreement. Which means I’m sure Cody and I will have no problem finding a way to get back at you two. Isn’t that right darling?” He says, far too cheerfully.
Cody studies him, up and down, before getting that look in his eyes that means he’s come to a decision.
“No, actually, it’s not, sir.”
Then Cody stands on the tips of his toes, leans in close and whispers something directly into Kenobi’s ear, entirely unintelligible to the rest of them, but whatever it is makes Kenobi blush hard enough to rival his own copper hair with a weak “Oh!”
Fox just might be sick.
“Not you too!”

sometimes, you think this is it and confess under threat of never having another opportunity to do so. Sometimes, you’re wrong. Sometimes, that results in consequences. Luckily for Fox, it’s not all bad. Cody would like to have a word though. That’s definitely bad.
