Summary
Aredhel does not return to Gondolin. Turgon assumes she has simply decided to stay with Fingon or with Celegorm instead, and is sad but not worried.
Aredhel disappears from Himlad. Celegorm and Curufin assume she got tired of waiting for them and went back to Gondolin.
During the Nirnaeth, Turgon and Fingon each ask the other how Aredhel is, and discover that none of them actually know where she went. When Fingon dies and the Gondolindrim retreat, Turgon charges Glorfindel with finding out what happened to her.
He follows her trail to Nan Elmoth.
