Summary
Nicodemus returns to Chicago to get rid of a book. He sees a half dead wizard fighting with a Wolfkin disease. A disease he know how to cure. He hadn't realized the wizard had half a leg in the living world and half in the spirit world. Beings like him weren't born often even amongst the Wolfkin. They were the ones who could travel easily between the realms and they were treasured and cared for. Especially given that they were all but extinct.
The fact the wizard was all alone and sick meant he didn't have a pack or clan. Pack didn't have to be wolf it was a bond forged through time. It spoke greatly of how strong Dresden's bonds with his "friends" were. He had no stong ties to anyone or anything. That made him vulnerable. Nicodemus uses his advantage.

There’s sounds of running steps behind him and he grabs a vase of flowers before turning back around, ready to throw it at the crazy woman who tried to say she’s his mom, only to spot her stopping a few feet away from him with a pained gasp — there’s something shiny sliding right through the middle of her chest — and then exploding into golden dust.

Summary
Tim’s still alive -through it all somehow he’s still here. Even if he barely talks to the family anymore, and he avoids the manor like the plague, and he goes MIA for weeks on end with little to no notice -he’s still plodding on.
But when a case comes up where someone gets torn apart with no murderer, murder weapon, or motive in sight -he begins to think that maybe he should’ve taken the time to talk things through with the others before it was too late.
At least Red Hood was also on the case, even if neither were the best when it came to teamwork. Or when it came to asking for help, for that matter.

This is a dragon fic with a lot of body horror! This au is in a world with no superpowers or magic, however, there is obviously a supernatural element. The bat family are the only heroes about, in this world.
