“I care not for procreation,” the creature rumbles angrily from above, spitting out the word as if in mockery of the way Victor had intoned it prior. “I am not entreating you to make me… a child-bearing wife. Just a friend.”
Or, when Victor makes his assumptions about the nature of the Creature's request for a companion, instead of remaining silent, the Creature speaks up. This puts their first confrontation after the fire on a different path.

Summary
She once believed Aang could save the world, but now, she must save him.
Five years after Lord Ozai defeated the Avatar, the world has fallen to the new Fire Empire. When rumors of Aang’s survival begin circulating, Katara can’t stand by and do nothing. Instead, Katara leaves the relative safety of her refugee camp to investigate the rumors, disguising herself as a Dai Li agent in order to infiltrate the Fire Nation Palace.
While Katara intends to keep a low profile, she draws the attention of the much hated Prince Zuko after saving his life. He recruits her on his mission to scour the nations and destroy rebel camps. She can’t say no without exposing her identity. But everything is not as it seems, and something strange is going on in each of the camps they find. Could the prince who betrayed her all those years ago really be helping from the inside? She needs to find Aang, but she might find something else along the way: second chances and love.

“We’re in the middle of the desert, waterbender. So you might have that barrel, but once it’s gone, what do you have?” Zuko moved forward, into her personal space. She was shorter than him, and he was using his height deliberately to glare down at her, but Katara didn’t back down. He could feel the sun soaking into him – his power was strongest while she was at her weakest, and for a moment he wished she would start something so that he could beat her in a fight. “I can make fire anywhere, and you might get one shot in, but then I am going to make you burn.”
The moment dragged out.
They were glaring.
Still glaring.
This was the point where the girl would usually be flying away on a bison and he’d be covered in perfume or something.
Something shifted in her expression, and Zuko started fully processing what he had just said, and how it could perhaps have been phrased a little—Her voice was completely flat. “Make. Me. Burn.” Her mouth tugged, started widening into a sly smile.
His stomach dropped. Oh no. “I meant it like—“
