[For YakuEi Week 2023 Day 1 Prompt: First Date]
Why today, of all day? Why must his body decide to get sick on the day he’s supposed to meet Eiden for their first date? Yakumo can’t cancel this date; Eiden is eagerly waiting for it as much as Yakumo does, and canceling it so suddenly would deeply sadden him.
There must be something Yakumo can do in his current state to make this first date a reality, even if he had to crawl out of his bed.

"Honestly? No. I love being a beta, but I also get that me being one means we got more stuff to work through." The now empty mug sits on the table beside the vial. "I can't ever be your bonded omega, but I dunno, I figured it'd be nice if you got the chance to know what it feels like."
For the longest time, Yakumo does not respond. His grip on his lukewarm mug tightens.
Dating an alpha was never going to be easy, especially not as a beta. Eiden learns that there's more to the secondary gender than what the stereotypes and textbooks describe.

Loving Eiden is as wonderful as it is painful, Yakumo learns. To fall in love with Eiden is a blessing, which also hides a curse; the dreadful fear of being rejected if his feelings were to be known by Eiden. So Yakumo makes a decision, to bury his love deep in his heart, never to see the light again.
He's a coward, but could anyone blame him for not wanting them to grow apart? Could anyone blame him for desiring these peaceful days he spent with Eiden to continue as long as they can? Even if he had to keep his feelings a secret all the time?
Yakumo was a cowardly fool, and he’ll continue being one—if that meant the distance between him and Eiden will never increase. If that meant Eiden will never leave his side.

“Happy birthday, Yakumo. Since today is your birthday, let’s go on a date to explore. We can visit all the shops and enjoy ourselves. Just the two of us.”
On his birthday, Eiden takes him out on his very first date. They eat a special breakfast at a fancy restaurant, go window shopping, and then talk about Yakumo's past birthdays with his grandparents in a park. Later, Eiden helps him get an anniversary gift for his grandparents. He fulfills one of Yakumo's childhood wishes and indulges in Yakumo's selfishness all day.
"Your birthday isn’t over yet. It’s time for another celebration!”
Despite already expecting a surprise birthday party, Yakumo is still stunned to have his companions shouting happy birthday at him. But what shocks him the most is the presence of two more people standing in front of his friends.
“Grandfather, grandmother!”

Summary
Yakumo has a favorite place among all of the varieties of Aster's garden; underneath a big tree with a big canopy that gives a nice covering from the blazing sun. On a hot day, sitting underneath the tree feels like heaven. It's the perfect spot to relax and take a nap.
Today Yakumo gets the whole tree for himself. He spreads a picnic blanket on the ground and leans on the trunk, stretching his body contently. It’s quite hot right now, but he’s all nice and cool in his spot. Humming a random tune, Yakumo flips through the book about spices and herbs while snacking.
Who would've expected it's in this very place where Mr. Serpent will experience his first outdoor sex with the successor of the Grand Sorcerer?

Kuya hates the fucking dual eclipse.
He limps through the forest, swearing with every step as pain spikes up his leg. He can’t heal this damn injury, and his essence has been slipping away from him as the night goes on. His chest hurts when he breathes, he’s feeling overstimulated as his senses go into hyperdrive for survival mode, and he’s getting progressively colder, despite the warm air and his many layers of clothes.
His home is still a ways off, and Kuya realizes he’s going to collapse if he doesn’t take a break.
Or, Kuya and Quincy go completely feral under the dual eclipse.

He should've put a stop to it earlier. Yakumo wasn’t in his right mind, and the correct thing to do was to postpone it. His body did enjoy it, yet the painful lump in his chest is hard to dislodge.
“Yakumo…” Eiden crawls behind him and puts his palm on Yakumo’s back to gain his attention. “Yakumo, can you look at me?”
If Yakumo isn’t going to respond, then Eiden will have to do the talking on his own. Eiden shifts closer and embraces Yakumo from behind, wrapping his arms around Yakumo’s torso and resting his cheek between his shoulder blades.
“I said I want to give you a hug, right? Now that my hands are free, I can hug you.”
