Paul has lived on Caladan his entire life, damp wind on the back of his neck and the rumble of far-off storms marking his days, but as he ages, a feeling settles over him. A miasma in his lungs, an aura in his periphery, a wave cresting over him. He feels it most when he straightens after a spar with Duncan, or the scant times he's been permitted to sit with the soldiers in their quarters and listen to their stories. Paul can barely breathe. He doesn’t know what to say. He hasn't slept, not well, anyway. He wakes up early or in fits in the night, and he can never escape those strange dreams. They’re getting harder to shake during the day.
Duncan’s hand drops away.
“You can stay with me,” Duncan offers. “Anytime you need. Tonight, if you want. If it will help you sleep.”

Tim clenched his fists as the pale figure uncovered his face. “I’m sorry.”
The line split off into a cacophony of sounds. But Tim couldn’t hear any of it, because the stone and crumbles of cement and wood slipped off the purple suit and the pale man sat up, a hand going to his sickeningly green hair.
He was trapped. Trapped within a building’s remains with a conscious Joker, dipped head-to-toe in cuddle pollen which was already starting to become close to unbearable without human touch.

It pained him to leave his son so early, so abruptly, but if it had to happen, Bruce couldn’t think of a more worthwhile death.

Bruce keeps dying. He does not know that he's already died multiple times today but his children do. And they're going to save him.
