Orym opens his eyes to a dim, grey void. He takes a deep breath, trying to center himself. It doesn’t help very much, but it’s something to do.
“Quite a hit,” a man says softly. He’s sitting next to Orym, cross-legged, and for some reason Orym isn’t surprised to suddenly see him there. He’s always been there, Orym is just able to see him now. He’s wearing a mask of bone shaped like a bird’s skull and a cloak of black feathers.
“… Yeah,” Orym agrees at the same volume. “I’m dead, right?”
