Summary
“Relax,” I said, halting my approach scarcely two feet away from him, like I wasn’t afraid of anything and definitely hadn’t noticed at least three hidden knives on his person. The fire was too close; its heat seeped through the thin fabric of my slippers from the terracotta floor. “I’m capable of spotting interest as well as any Crow—or the lack of it. I’m not trying to seduce you.”
He looked me directly in the eyes, and my training called for an instinctive loosening of the shoulders as I banished the memory of searing flesh.
“Really?” he asked, his voice cold and unwavering as his scowl formed a crease over the bridge of his nose. “Because I’m capable of the same. And I can tell when people are afraid of me.”
A high-ranking stranger is all that stands between a young Rook and a plot for them to die carrying out a contract in Minrathous. Fortunately, the master assassin seems to owe Viago a favour.
Unfortunately for Lucanis Dellamorte, legendary mage-killer, the mage he's promised to keep alive has some secrets of their own.

Summary
“Then turn selfishness into a weapon! Make all things yours!” - The Wee Free Men
Magpie de Riva is ruthlessly independent, determined, and protective. Their magical power is peculiar, but in their opinion, the real power sits with the people willing to do the paperwork.
Before the Antaam invaded, a secret affair blossomed between Mags and Lucanis Dellamorte. It was a balm, to Mags, as they determinedly cultivated every alias, connection and contract they could in order to keep their people alive.
And then they became Rook.

The Lights Out Job (The Magpie Files) by amiablecrow
Fandom Dragon Age - All Media Types, Dragon Age: The Veilguard (Video Game)
20 Mar 2026
Summary
In a vividly hallucinatory journey through dark fairy tales and assassination contracts, a young Crow’s thirst to prove themselves proves no match for Talon politics. Given an offer they can’t refuse—for a contract in Minrathous they’re not meant to survive—they’re forced to accept the help of Viago’s contact.
Their new partner, "Luca", isn't as subtle as he thinks he is. Unfortunately, they like him. But there's more at stake in Minrathous than two assassins and their contracts. As innocents are led to the slaughter, De Riva alone will need to learn to accept their power and become what they really are, monstrosity and all.
This is the story of what it means to chose the name Magpie de Riva.

The Midnight Society (Neve/Rook/Lucanis) by amiablecrow
Fandom Dragon Age (Video Games), Dragon Age: The Veilguard (Video Game)
21 Nov 2024
Summary
It's true that most of the Lighthouse's residents have trouble sleeping. But in the midnight sun of their sanctuary's magical kitchens, it's three bodies in particular that seem to gravitate toward late night coffee as black as their souls.
Or, two Crows and a private detective.
---
Lucanis started flirting with Neve because it was less intimidating than the alternative.
Their personas fit. The infamous Mage-killing assassin stalking the shadows for blood and the famous Mage-detective stalking the corrupt streets for clues were well-worn sets of clothing. The hint of danger was to be expected, for them, but it was also easy. When it came to Neve Gallus, he could be the person he was supposed to be, and she let him. Mostly.
Rook turned all of his expectations upside down.
It would have been easy to avoid Rook and let the easy words and suggestive looks with Neve carry him through the rest of his contract. It was an annoyance that his traitorous heart had to beat in tune with both of theirs.
It was terrifying that neither mage had enough self-preservation to stay away from Spite.

Summary
She takes a long pause to appreciate him, perhaps for the last time before he tears himself away from her, realising she’s more trouble than she’s worth. His scent, the warmth of his skin, his breath on her cheek. The stretch of him inside of her, the weight of the marks on her neck and chest.
‘I don’t think I’ve done this with someone I care about. That’s all.’
Neve braces for the worst, for a withdrawal, but it doesn’t come.

Summary
When everyone at the Lighthouse receives thoughtful presents out of nowhere, speculation abounds as to who the gift-giver might be. Neve is, as always, on the case.
---
From the moment she walked into my office, I knew she’d be trouble.
She exuded the kind of home-grown wholesomeness you got when you grew up too close to farms and paddocks, but she had a charming head of curls and a wicked glint in her eyes, and she knew how to use both to her advantage. “Neve,” she said. “You’re narrating mentally again. I can see it in your eyes.”
