A sunset in summer, washing over his neck, curling beside his ear, falling just so to frame his face. Half-turned as he was, Ryoma couldn’t see all of Xander’s expression, but the glare he had been expecting was curiously absent. Instead, Ryoma saw in Xander’s eye a disarming gentleness, a complete lack of hatred and fire that was more chilling than anything Ryoma could have imagined.
