The loneliness gnawed at him. But, anybody he knew wouldn’t…
Batman came to mind, for example. Are you finished? The one time Kyle tried to explain it. Are you finished? The tone reverberated through his spine. Condescending, tired, exasperated, and not in the fond way like Jen, John, Guy, any of those people were. Batman had sounded done.
Kyle imagined that, in a different setting, he’d feel rageful. The impulse to punch Batman in that moment had been a strong one, but the shaking in his lungs was stronger, and it kept him quiet. Quieter. Wally had snickered beside him, and the betrayal had sunk in deeper.

To say Booster Gold startled waking up to Rani’s tearful but blank face only a mere few centimetres away from his own would be an understatement.
“Sh—oozles,” Booster exclaims croakily, flinching back, blinking blearily at the blurry figure in front of him, soon clearing into Rani. His little girl was dressed in the pajamas he had put her in; a pink bear plastered in the middle of a cotton shirt and pants with white stars scattered all over them. In her arms, she was clutching her Booster Bear, its fluff spilling over the crinkly suit. All in all, she looks just as sleep-rough as him, save for her red cheeks and inflamed eyes, creating a concerning image.
Oh, boy…
OR; Rani wakes Booster Gold up after a nightmare. Hurt/Comfort ensues.

In-between these deserted stretches of highway and the rare glare of too-bright passing headlights in the night, Eddie keeps an eye on the kid. It’s dark enough that the contrasts that constitute so much of Connor have deepened, and in the low light his blonde hair seems almost too fair against his dark skin. He’s got a lot of Ollie in him and it’s all the good parts, too.

Summary
Footsteps pass by his door, pausing to knock. Sometimes it’s Grayson. Sometimes it’s Father. He ignores them all, their queries about wanting signs of life and their pathetic attempts to try and coax him out to spend time with them, and shifts to lie on his side. Curled up on the floor, back pressed to the door, he feels a chill not even the heaviest of blankets can get rid of.
It is lonely in this manor.
When Damian came to live with his father, it's nothing like the life he expected it to be. As he struggles to find his place in the family and navigate life outside of the League, help comes in the form of his older brother who's goal is to ensure Damian settles into the life he was meant to live.
Because for all he was taught, Damian was never taught how to be a child.

It was all Dick's fault. His fault. Not Jason's. Not Bruce's. His. He was too weak and too distracted and too stupid. Careless. All he wanted was to meet Jason's mother alone, to judge her character. He didn't expect this to happen.
Lying against the cold floor of the warehouse he thought he didn't deserve to be Nightwing. This was not what uncle Clark’s hero was. He certainly was no failure.
(Or: In Ethiopia, Dick gets Jason’s permission to meet Sheila alone. It obviously goes terribly wrong.)
