Mother to Sokka and Katara, the last waterbender in the South Pole. Unbeknownst to her captors, Kya has traded her freedom and her dignity for her daughter’s life. Kya has spent five years in six different Fire Nation prisons and eleven different cells. Kya is, presently, at the Boiling Rock prison, which is muggy and uncomfortable and surrounded by a lake of scalding-hot water. Kya highly suspects they’ve forgotten that she’s supposed to be a waterbender.
Kya’s well aware of the situational irony.
