"You alright?"
I nodded absentmindedly.
Han paid me a glance, one that last less than a second.
"I'm fine, yeah. I was just thinking about uhh y'know Jedi stuff."

Rey had never been foolish, pretentious or dramatic. How could she, when her life had been a series of misfortunes ? When you slave away just to get your water rations, things such as feelings become inconsequential. Love had been a foreign concept. She felt it of course, but nobody loved her for so long. Then her path had changed, opening her to so many things.
Opening your heart to people, she had learned, meant opening yourself to grief. Loving someone in a war meant sufferingPS : It goes without saying but I don’t own Star Wars nor its characters. Sadly I might add…

A rattle shook the room as the ships fought and blew each other up in the skies above. They knew this could only end one way, with heartbreak and death. Just before that final step could be taken, finger on the ignition, something happened. Something changed.
Kylo's resolve was shaken as a vision played out. He saw the life leaving his father's body as his face was bathed in red, surprised and betrayed. Cries of shock and despair called out from somewhere far away, his spirit splitting and fracturing beyond recognition as the smuggler's body fell backward and faded from view. Just as quickly as it had come, the vision ended, leaving him in a numb realization.
He couldn't do it.
